This kit was the most satisfying to build yet. Just beautiful the way it all went together.

I'm posting this thread for the people who aren't fortunate enough to build one of these magnificent cars....this way I can share the build with all of you....... every step involved in the building of this chassis. If you can, get yourself one and build it, you won't regret it!!

Also, to follow this thread properly, it might be a good idea to download the manual, so you can follow it step by step.

Anyway, without further ado, here we go!!

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img14438_13082006131940_1.jpg

This of course is the kit in question, the Dyna Storm Re release kit, in all its blister packed glory!!

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img14438_13082006131940_2.jpg

Step 1: The side chassis stiffeners cop some velcro tabs.

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img14438_13082006132446_1.jpg

One of the most satisfying Tamiya experiences ever....opening a BLISTER PACK!!!! Here we extract the chassis from its nicely presented packaging.

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img14438_13082006131940_3.jpg

Step 2: Attaching the side stiffeners to the chassis plate.

Thanks for that, it's great to see what goes into a Dyna Storm. I'd love one to replace my Runner Astute, as it's getting a bit used (new gearbox in post!) Anyway, I was particulaly impressed by the rear universals, they look like they can take a bit of power!

That looks like a proper piece of kit!

I've been thinking about a 2wd buggy for a while now, I think that's a little over the Desert Gator I'd budgetted for, tho [:S]

Very nice.  That kit builds really well.  Nice job with the photos.  I built mine years ago and it only has a handful of runs on it.  I think I might take it for a drive later today.  [:)]

Wicked photo log Corpse Thrower - thanks for that, imagine one of those for every new built on this site, that would be an amazing repository.  Heck, stopping, arranging and capturing all those shots must have doubled the build time!

Top shelf.

i love a good buildup, you are right more people should do it, i am thinking about doing it with my TA05 Ferrari f430 that has just been delivered, what do you think?

that DS does look quite competetive, and i love that multiblade clutch thingy

Posted

Thanks guys.

Yes it did add to the build time a bit, but I reckon it was worth it, I plan to do the same with the next kit I buy that I deem worth it. Probably the Hi-Lift.....unless someone else wants to?

I'd love to see more of it here, not everyone has the same kits or the means to buy all of them, so for those who don't have a particular kit its fantastic, as they can see everything unfold without having to buy the kit and actually do it. Bonnerworld, do the Ferrari!! I for one don't have that kit, so would be very interested in seeing the buildup!!

I'd love to see someone with a NIB Bruiser or Scorcher post a thread like this.....I can do it with a Rough Rider, but it will only be from parts bags when I finish collecting all the bits.....not the same as cracking open a box....[:(]

Wow, that would be great if you (or others) do that on more kits in the future! [H] Here is also another legendary one http://simensays.com/tamiya/

A little tip for future ones, better put a white sheet over the table, as it will increase contrast and make constrction come out more and the whole thing look closer to Tamiyas superb manuals! [H]

Cheers

I agree it would be excellent if these where in one area or could be made stickies somewear this guide has made me go out and get a dynastorm now as i was so impressed id love to see one for a nib 934. If any one wants to see a similar thing for the pershing full option tank see here. http://www.dansdata.com/pershing.htm love his intro "there are toys and there are really good toys" he has a few other tamiya reveiws and it is an all round good sight and he is a top chap!. Anyway cheers again for the great post.

hi yes the kit arrived a few days ago and looks fantastic i will start bulding it in a few weeks cant wait im currently planning to do a 1/12 caterham (static) and documnet that as they are fantastic builds. Maybe put a request in in the tamiyaclub forum for one to be created where these posts can be kept such as this and ones with projects like deemillers hummer would be a shame for them to get lost and boged down with the old posts as i can appreciate a lot of work must go into making a guide like that.

I was just trolling through some old threads and came across this one. I would love to see all the photos of the build, as it sounds like a pretty fantastic car. Do they still exist somewhere, or do old photos expire after some period of time on Tamiyaclub?

Cheers!

I believe so, but it makes NO sense. Sometimes I feel this site a little too conservative. Linking showroom photos has never worked for me and I've been on here a couple years. Here's my personal car (on photobucket), so You can at least have one photo...

I think it's a forum restriction - not a site restriction. It prevents people linking to scripts and other nasties...

Nice DS - looks good with the silver wheels...
