Thats a nice Grasshopper, it turned out great in green. I´m building mine shortly,  but my daughter is a bit small to be with me on this one. Shes only a month old now.

Very nice - the colour is very 'grasshopperish' - the insect I mean...

akemag: That's no excuse - she should be getting used to the tactile feel of a handset. And surely you've made mobile from spare parts? [;)]

I love that colour scheme [:)]

No kids here.  No wife.  No girlfriend.

why else do you think I spend so much time playing with radio controlled cars..?  [:D]

LOL[:D]

Great idea! Wife´s gonna love it when i hang up some spare parts over her bed! And i was thinking, wife said we should buy her a gift for her first 4 week anniversary. So why not the new F-350 Hi-Lift. I´ll keep it safe for her until she´s big enough to drive it herself.[;)]

I have a wife and a kid, but no girlfriend and that is why I spend so much time on RC[;)]

The color is so appropriate, given is a grasshopper.

I’m surprised how nice that grasshopper looks in green. I have a re-re Grasshopper
that could use some new paint and stickers next summer, maybe I should consider
painting it green…

Do
you have the name or color code of that green color?

looks like everyone will be running a green 'hopper soon [;)]

I'm tempted to buy a re-re kit so I can fix up my original 'hopper

(waaay cheaper than replacing all the damaged bits) and that green is

looking very appealing...

What a nice car to start with ! [:)] My first GH was green too.

Green really suits the Grasshopper well.  Candy lime green is such a great color especially for the old Grasshopper.

Ok i'll try to remember Tamiya TS52 'Candy Lime Green'.

But isn’t a candy color a bit more difficult

to paint than the normal flat or glossy color?

Not really, like for all paints good preparation and many thin layers is the key, only thing it needs extra is some coats of clear as all metallics are pretty flat.

A couple of years ago my Son and I found a nice condition Falcon at a Garage sale.

We got it in running condition but due to inexperience he promptly crashed it.

While parts are not too hard or expensive to find, they are not as easy to get as running down to the hobby shop.  So I was able to get him a nice Associated T3 Truck.

On the original subject, I have a 17-month-old who's fascinated by the R/C cars in the house. he was scared of them for a long time, btu recently he's realised it's fun to run after them, so when we go out to the park he usually chases after the cars, giggling a lot.

Your Grasshopper looks great! I want one now.

I have an 11 month old that is crawling everywhere. I ran my Wild Willy 2 around him and it was pretty funny watching him crawl full speed after it. I would wait until he came within inches of it and take off. My wife didn't think that was so funny. [:)

I can't wait until he is around your daughters age so I can get him into cars (hopefully before if possible). I just hope he has an interest.

thanks for the replies everyone. my daughter was prety excited to get her own after seeing all her dad's 'toys'. she built  most parts by herself with some supervision and guidance:) now trying to teach her to drive, we started with the body off but she got mad because she didn't like the car looking "naked" so back on went the body and so far so good. also the re-re has stickers instead of decals which means you don't have to cut them out! however i still screwed up the right side stripe. if you look at the pics you will see a space where i messed up the stripe. i simply trimmed it out and put the drivers etc. sticker there and imho it turned out okay!

I'm a newlywed (2 yrs). No kids for us yet, but I do have a newphew

that will be old enough soon for an introduction into RC (Tamiya of

course).

The GrassHopper was my first car, so I was dang happy when the

re-released them. Built one customized runner and bought the Parma

Lexan shell which I will use on another. Haven't tried a green paint

scheme, but it looks like a good contender. I've updated my GH from the picture below, so its probably time to take some new photos for my showroom.

Always great to see another GrassHopper fan. Great work on your car!

My old Grasshopper is now run by my 7-year old. It looks like this now:

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...138&id=2193

He started with an old Quickrive Thundershot and now also runs the "Buster Bunny" (Clodbuster).  However so far he hasn't shown any interest in actually building a kit. I guess it is because he has always had a few runners around to play with.

His 5 year-old brother is just getting into running cars with the radio, having been content with pushing them around as "roller" cars up til recently.

great pics everyone! i have to admit building a grasshopper didn't really interest me at first but seeing it all together really changed my mind. hopefully my daughter will enjoy driving her 'toy' as much as her dad does!

My boy (nearly 8 now) always had a thing for Mini's, so for his 6th Birthday I bought him a MO3 Mini (of course!) and we built it together over a few nights - he would only last a half hour or so before being fidgety - I even bought a wheel controller which he promptly swapped for one of my chrome "Attack" controllers! He took ownership of my "Willy's" (Original Hornet fitted with Wild One wheels and Parma '41 Willy's body - they were built for each other! Very Phat dragster style) and my el cheapo 10 Km/h Subaru - In fact he owns all my on road cars now! - I had to buy a MO1 Mini so we could drive together - its no fun by yourself, you know

I even took him racing at the track but he preferred to go the wrong way round the track which doesn't go down well, maybe in a couple of years

We bash in the backyard with my GH1 and GH2, both painted in desert camouflage! - see how I cunningly combined topics!! - But my GH1 is "sooo Slow Dad" - he takes the faster car every time!

My other kids have claimed one of my cars each but no interest in driving other than every now and again - Oh well  :)

Throw a 540 Sport Tuned or better motor in your GH1 and they won't be saying "sooo Slow Dad" anymore. I beat my friends Duratrax Evader in an on-road race with a 540 Sport Tuned (he was running a 19turn double). It's fun to see the GrassHopper go crazy fast.

The green Grasshopper looks fantastic, very good colour for a GH.

I recently restored an old Frog for my 5 year old nephew to play around with.

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img278_14082006191244_4.jpg

It was only finished this week so he hasn't seen it yet, hopefully he'll like it - or he'll be going after my King Blackfoot/Monster Beetle/Scorcher hybrid (it's mine, mine, mine!)

I pinched a Turtle to drive the Frog :)

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img278_14082006191244_1.jpg

Looking forward to racing it around the park with my Frog

Cheers
