Good Day All.  I was wondering if I could ask fellow TC Members to adopt an "unofficial"  "Showroom" rule.

I am a big fan of Tamiya vehicles - especially the naked chassis.  I am always curious to see the placement of electronics, mods, hop-up options & all the other little bits.  So, here is the request:

How about adopting a "Body-Off" shot for the last pic in your entries ?

I am currently re-vamping my showroom to comply with this request myself [;)] !  I know a lot of hard work goes into the build - it would be nice to see it too.  Thoughts ?

I try to do the same myself, but I'll admit that my showroom desperately needs an update.. er .. rather a complete overhall[:$] - but that seems to be an ongoing battle. ( I'm not sure if my showroom has ever been current!)

Many times I will sacrafice another 'body -on' shot just to be sure that I get a chassis shot within the 6 alloted. (I understand that it's possible to block photos together, but I haven't bothered to do this myself.)

Maybe it would be nice to have a seperate tab ( that's right, another feature[:o]) for some chassis and detail shots. Kind of like a 'in depth' photo tab that you could even include some assembly pictures and other supplementary material such as gear ratio charts, etc.

I think that this way we could still stick to the clean appearance of the six photos per page format, but still are able to add additional pics/info in a logical, categorized way.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I think you got a point there.

I'm also interested in the chassis, would be nice, yes.

I have also another suggestion:

10 pics with a limited size (like 100 kB).

That way I don't have to group different pics together into one pic.

Especially when a restoration with "before/after pics"  is going to be displayed.

If you need that many pics, use TCPhotos to store them and stick a post in the forums - I got 43 pics in the last biggie [:D]

Then just put 6 meaningful ones in your showroom, with a forum link

mhh.. body off.. thats roughly 120 models to dust & take picts from..

This is a good plan, but would be more intresting for modified cars, everybody knows how a stock TT01 looks like under the body.

Would prefer myself a larger "big picture" , not the (outdated?) 800x600 limit.  Unless you are taking pictures with your cellphone, about everybody shoots bigger pictures these days.

For myself, if the chassis is interesting enough, I take a body off shot of it.  If it's just the same ol then I just take body on shots.

Same for me.

i think this is a really gd idea - and i will endevour to do this will as many of my cars as possible espcially when i have a new car to photograph. I always seem to find great looking cars but no pics of what makes them go which to me id half the fun as a rally car is only a rally car if it performs like one.

Actually - I think I agree [;)] ! Definitely Body-Off when Hop-Ups are added (even more so when they are genuine Tamiya).

This is a great idea.  I plan on taking some body-off pictures too for my showroom.  As an aside, I wish Darryn would have done that in his last article. [:D]  I find these types of pictures to be very helpful with electronics placement and wiring.  Also, some drivetrains are really unique and the only way to really see them is with the top off.

It's all about showing, right?

Try looking through the eyes of the viewer.

Show what they want to see, not what you want to show.

I hope you (both) don't see this as an offence for I can't say this in a nicer way.[;)]

Anyway, do what you want, just my 0,02.

I totally agree with the idea of a "Body off" pic, and I am now trying to include them with all my recent showroom entries.

I do this for 2 reasons. 1. for those that want to look at the chassis, and 2. to show that I actually have the car/chassis that I'm listing.

I cannot understand why some members go to the trouble of a 4 paragraph story explaining the full rebuild of a car, telling us of the hop-ups fitted, then only add pics of the body shell.

I agree entirely - Firstly as a validation that they have the car making it far easier for that member should they wish to then trade/sell that item its all there in the original entry with body and chassis pics.

And Secondly I know what you mean with people who talk and length of there rebuild in great details and are clearly very proud of this acheivement yet only show pics to a box art scobby shell or whatever it is. Seems a bit ironic an daft really to me.

Personally, I also skip long text.

Pictures useally tell more but...

When a project is really interesting, I start to read the actual text.

Especially when someone has done a nice job in painting, polishing or whatever interests me.

Still, almost everyone seems to like "body-off" pics for whatever reason that may be (I'm not the judge, the viewer is).

So, every model I'll be listing will be with "body-off shots" then!

So be it.

Great input fellas.  So that settles it then - minimum one "body off" shot & when it's a re-build, restore, modified or full of "options" the more "body off" shots the better [Y] !
