Thanks for the plug fury_dice [:D]. Also, if you look at the Twin Det in my showroom, there's a piccy of the neons under construction, and I'm going to be doing some underbody lighting kits this week - they will be similar to the ones made by Varvad, but a lot cheaper (the Varvad sets are £35 [:0]

Thanks for the mention also fury_dice [8D]

I'm about to equip a Lancer evo VI and a Subaru TL-01 with full lighting rig also. For headlights that really work you have to go a long way to beat the Luxeon Star 1 Watt LEDS with lenses - not cheap (about 6 quid each), but streets ahead of anything else for illumination.

Best source fo LED's I have found so far is here:

http://www.ultraleds.co.uk

No connection other than a satisfied customer [:)]

Having tried it I would recommend making up your own RC neons or lighting - its not that hard and if you are on a budget you will save a fair bit of cash going DIY.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do and feel free to ask if you need any advice / tips.

I would also definitely recommend looking at jozza's pumpkin lighting article on the web - gives you a good idea of the work involved and what to expect.

Cheers,

Chris

sorry about that I'm still trying to work everything out!

I can't seem to upload it, every time I try it goes to the payment instruction screen. Do you have to be a paid member to upload photo's or edit you details? [?][?][V]

BTW nice looking car's especially the one's from www.rcneon.com

Yep, you need to be a fully paid up subscriber to post to a showroom, but you could post the pic somewhere else, like if you have some webspace, and then link to it in the post here by using the insert image button and pointing it to the address of the file on the internet.

£35 [:0] ouch i only paid £17 i think for mine (was a few months back)

id="quote">id="quote">The strip neons (like the ones you've got) are between 15 and 17 quid, depending where you get them, but RCNeons also do a full underbody kit, with leds which are mounted on bars, that's the £35 deal.

My "neons" cost about 50p each [;)] and I reckon the underbody kit will be about £3-£5 to build for 5 strips. Might not look quite as pretty as the RCNeons jobbies, but they do when they are lit up [8D].

Once I've worked out "Night Mode" on my shiny new camcorder, I'll see if I can get some action videos out, especially of the colour cycling ones which are very nice [:D]

My favourite supplier is ultraleds.co.uk - I've used various powers, but the blues for neons are 4000MCD, the red brake lights are 5000 and the headlights 10,000MCD, which on the Pumpkin is bright enough to light up the back garden path (there are 5 front lights though if you count the spotlights).

The colour cycling lights are about 4500MCD I think, and that's bright enough to light up the ground under the car.

Ultraleds also do the Luxeon lights, quite pricey at a fiver each, but they are extremely bright. I might be trying some of those in the Monster Beetle.

The Luxeon stars are pricey, but really make the best headlights IMHO. This may be to do with the fact that they are 250,000 MCD[xx(].

If running off a standard receiver connector the 1W Luxeons need a 4.7 Ohm resistor in series with either the +ve or -ve connection.

A resistor calculator is here if you want to work out for other LEDS:
