NAH!! the top 5 ultimate off-roaders in the order of my opinion are:

1) Mercedes G-Wagon

2) Mountaineer style Hi-Lux (1980's i think)

3) Jeep in general

4) Landrover defender TD5 (90/110/130)

5) Suzuki SJ

First one question: Does any one know if Tamiya recives money from Ford for using the body or is it the opposite? If Tamiya gott a good deal I can understand why they use this modern body.

In my personal opinion a older body would sell better since we are more used to it. I personally think all the new truck bodys are ugly. I hate the plastic wheel arche wideners, WHY???

The Unimog getts my first vote! There is no toy company I know about that is making a good enough Unimog body. I have seen a few that looks much better than the Robbe, but it still is a way to go!

The Toyota Hilux Pickup, last generation body. Because it looks good. It is nothing bling about it, pure truck. And it is the most solid truck in the world.

This is a very personal sugestion:-)

Hi,

Tamiya won't be making money from Ford for using the F-350 body as a model for sure. There are usually 2 ways (my guessing):

1. Tamiya paying Ford for a lisense. (e.g. Tamiya's Ferrari kits are more expensive because I guess Ferrari charges Tamiya a certain amount or according to whatever amount sold.)

2. Tamiya got a written permission from Ford and don't need to pay a cent.

Since the lisense is there, the kit comes with a Jugg body is much much easier and cheaper in production.

Hei, I like the Toyota FJ Cruiser body! Like a rounded up H2!

Thx

Thanks for the answer WalaWala! Offcourse someone likes the new body's. They sell very much. My point was that it maybe would be safer to use and older body, as we are more used to it. Gott stronger feelings for them since we have seen them for a longer time.

He, he Badboy! Next 1/1 offroad car I want to buy is a TP21, unstoppable! As for the Felt, The chassis is built in Sweden, while the body is molded at Raufoss, Norway. I have been told about the hardcore guys who drove the chassis from Sweden to Norway mid winter for 50 kr in pay:-)

Sorry for going so off subject...

my personal preference is a more detailed light armored vehicle or a Hummer H1 Alpha. or a haflinger or a Pinzgauer. ofcourse, a Dodge Ram Larame Hemi wouldn't be too bad either [;)]

or a suzuki sj 413Van%2520jacked%2520up.JPG

and a paint scheme to follow - i would chose blue and black in some form of scheme but thats my opinion... and finally theres a toyota hilux surf.toyota%2520hilux%2520surf%252089-KZN130W

tell me wacha think of that lineup... (well there all leaf sprung and live axles)

In the US, those Suzuki's are called Samurai's. Very capable little

off-roaders if you can ignore their scores on rollover tests.

In the UK they were infamously known as the "rollover jeep" after a

series of road accidents which found them spinning on their rooftops...

Note that in the UK, they were usually owned and driven by hairdressers

who bought them for their vogue factor, not for doing any kid of

off-road driving.  In many way it's probably why they never caught

on in the UK as off-road cars - any serious off-road driver didn't want

to be associated with the hairdresser brigade, and so bought a Land

Rover...

realistically speaking the new high lift wouldnt be suited to the following models:

1) the G-wagon becuse its coil sprung and the high lift is on leafs... the same goes for a defender, a range rover, a toyota hilux surf and many more just because its a leaf sprung vehicle. and i know this is obvious but people dont convert cars from coils to leafs its the other way around but there are some...

P.S thats if you want to be fully realistic (apart from the weight because a 1 tonne car in true scale would have to weigh 100kg!!)

also another point. the suzuki was only called the rollover jeep because people drove them like cars. they went too fast round corners and they pitched and rolled. THERE NOT CARS! THEY'RE NOT MEANT FOR HIGHER SPEED MANOOVERS!!! there designed for off-road use not high speed road use. if you drive them normally like you'd drive an old series land rover there great cars. my dad's has a 3' lift and 30' tyres and manages to get it round to 20/25MPH around a roundabout until the back wheel lifts then YOU EASE OFF THE THROTTLE OR IT WILL ROLLOVER!! and so would a series land rover!

a lot of people call the old Hilux's  "Rollux"  as they tended to end up on the roof   :)

I think you misheard: it's not 'Rollux', but something close.

Nope, weight is proportional to volume and volume of a 1:10 car is 1/10³=1/1000th, so our cars have a pretty scale weight and often are even overweight!

I ain't gonna argue with that logic - except the Suzuki was marketed as

a fashionable runabout, and wasn't taken seriously as an off-roader

despite its ability.

Plus, my old man never rolled our 110 County once [;)]

I would say I'd like to see a G-Wagen but as Nikko already has a decent version I'll say a Mitsubishi L200 or similar japanese pickup or a trial truck.

well i personally would like to see a suzuki sj body version as i have one in real life

however to keep it to true scale, there is only a limited number of true body's that would fit, the old hilux is one of them, then there is the santana, it is s spanish company that build new landy look alikes but run on leaf springs

you could do a series 1/2/3 landy i think an older land cruiser would look sweet too as would said above a dodge

I think you guys need to think more realistically.  All of these obscure bodies would never appeal to the mass market.  what you have to do is look at the mass market and see what is popular and then go from there

My vote

Nissan titan

Toyota tundra

Mercedes G wagon

Dodge ram

GMC Sierra

I know exactly what you mean, but whats wrong with hoping? I'd LOVE to see a Suzuki SJ413 body, but i know realistically it won't happen!

Although, that jeep the person above me posted it pretty **** awesome!
