Plenty of time for me to get my Rc's sorted.

If we could have as many blackfoots and monster beetles please, it would make a great video, also how about vintage 2wd, i would love to tryout my vintage holiday buggy now its got a 540 in it. Also a vintage 4wd race, boomers, hotshot/supershot, thunder shot, bigwig etc. Just 5 minute races, nothing too taxing for these Tamiya Golden oldies.

So get those dusty Rc's out for a light run.

Sounds like a great idea! Even if they are not races as such, I think it'll be nice to have sessions when the track is filled with vehicles of a certain type/category all running together.

I'll bring my Hornet and Hotshot. (If I can make it this time - work permitting!)

My only comment about these meets is that the track plan is very small.

I can understand why it is small, health & safety, retrieving cars that have rolled, public nuisance blah blah blah.....

But I would prefer at least ONE fast straight, and MORE left hand turns.....

The layout as it was last week (according to the video) has ONE left hand turn and the rest are right handers.....with not a single straight to be seen.

Could this be sorted out for the next meet....then I might spend money on diesel to come along and join in because I would love to........?

I've just read through all the comments, I appreciate that the initial comment was to only 'change the track', BUT, as another said above, I'm entitled to an opinion.

After a 2hrs drive to Clumber Park, I normally get there around 8am to help JWeston, TamiyaMonkey etc etc set up. I also actively get involved where I can with other rc meets like Snetterton RC Meets and the DT-02 Challenge etc for example.

Unfortunately, comments/critism such as this from HornetRacer1971 are quite common on these meeting threads, you only have to look through comments of other meet threads mentioned above. These meets may not be perfect, and I'm sure the organisors are open to constructive and positive suggestion.

It can be seen in the meetings section that its VERY DIFFICULT to get these meets going and takes LOADS of time and effort by the same few organisers. I'm sorry to highlight this, but you only have look at THIS YEARS rc meet failures - Mendip Raceway and the TT01/2 Challenge for example. Very good ideas, from very good people, but they didn't happen. My guess is that it was lack of support/people committing to going. Agree??

I've only been to a few Clumber Park meets, but I can see already there are a number of reasons for the track layout/organisation etc. One of the main reasons has been highlighted, the fact that its one person (JWeston) with only 1 car FULL of track material. I also would like to see a larger/faster track at Clumber, but I can see that as its temporary, its unrealistic to be much different.

Theres lots of public, walkers, dogs etc etc, plus the soggy/wet ground just below the track and some crappy rough surfaces (which of course Mr Hornet would NOT like!). I can also see that a SMALL and SIMPLE track that everyone (i.e. BEGINNERS / CHILDREN / known bad drivers (some are TC members!)) is needed also. What about the amount of safety fencing too, something that others don't seem to be considering.

BUT, IF you bothered to go to one of these meetings, you would of course know that. IF you bothered to turn up at around 7-8am to help set up, you would of course KNOW that. IF you bothered to at least help with ANY of the SUCESSFUL rc meet ups as found in this forum, again, you would of course know that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall seeing your help or involvement in these meets.

Over the last few years of using the TC forum I've noticed many different types of TC member / rc'er, but within the Meetings section there seems to be:-

1) One that CLAIMS to be an rc enthusiast - shows interest in such rc meetings, and then starts on critical comments like 'why aren't you organising it close to my home??' or 'I don't have one of those cars, so why can't you organise a meeting especially to suit me??'. In my expereince I found that in reality, THIS PERSON HAS NO INTENTION OF TURNING UP. So as an organisor/helper, I personally don't take any notice. I only take notice of fellow rc'ers that actual attend these meets. But please, I'M VERY HAPPY TO BE PROVED WRONG!!!

2) A real Tamiya/rc enthusiast who has both runners and shelfers. When an rc meet is orgainised, not only do they SAY they are going, but they ACTUALLY turn up with a smile and an open mind. Then after having tried one of the meets, want to go again and probably tell their rc friends too. You will find evidence of this within fourm threads of not only this one, but DT-02 Challenge Event, Snetterton RC Meets, Any Aussies Keen for a Bash and TamiyaClub USA.

So I ask Mr HornetRacer1971 - which category do you fit into?

I think the evidence within the threads of the SUCESSFUL meet-ups, and the UNSUCESSFUL meet-ups speak for themselves.

ALL rc meet-ups simply rely on 2 things:- (1) someone willing to give up their time to organise it - (2) people turning up (and hopefully helping!). OTHERWISE THEY CANNOT HAPPEN.

I therefore politely ask all fellow TC members to - please be more positive as to meet ups, they are GOOD for our fantastic hobby AND ACTUALLY take the time to turn up to the event (and better still, help out / get involved!).

well said sir and thanks to the 4 or 5 people that make these meets possible ..

I'm on the Isle of Wight so getting to a meet is already £50 to £100 over what anyone on mainland has to pay to go but will be sorting a run out at some point to do snetterton and clumber meets hopefully before end of year or cash flow allowing .

I apologise for my earlier comment in support of trying a different track format. I didn't realise how much of a sore point this was. I shall comment no further.

I'm sorry for the rant earlier, I have now edited it (a bit!).

I do take offence to people not appreciating the time and effort from the likes of JWeston etc etc, who make a considerable contribution towards our fantastic hobby.

I also stand by what I've said about that I've noticed that the people who seem to criticise, don't seem to be the ones that actual go. Hopefully I'm wrong in this instance, and if so, offer my appologises sincerely.

I did have a 'suitable' reply to the post that started off the current debate but I think what needs to be said as been said now. I shall just say that I did find it offensive, as did quite a few other people.

To add a bit of positivity I shall say that these meets are well worth travelling to. The atmosphere is always great and it's a brilliant venue. Much respect to tamiya monkey and JWeston for putting the time and effort in to put on a great days worth of RC fun :)

Crikey ...I can't believe the venom my suggestion of changing the track layout has generated!!!!!!!

This is a hobby!!! lol

I was simply suggesting the track had a straight and a few more left hand turns......so what?

Do you now want to publicly execute me? Maybe chop my hand off? 50 lashes maybe? This isn't the middle east you know!

I love this hobby......I have lots of kits.....lots of runners......and lots that I will go out and buy.......all I need now is a bigger house lol

The way this has offended so many of you for such a trivial comment is almost laughable!!!!!

Were some of you bullied at school or something?

There's an easy answer to this. Just find your own ground (maybe even in another part of clumber park) and start your own meet and then you can please yourself. I have been to a clumber meet and it's a good 4 hour drive for me and I had a fantastic day with loads of like minded people and the last thing on there mind was complaining... maybe start your own thread in the forums instead of criticising others that do a great job for others. As for the being bullied at school comment I think you need to grow up. If you can dish out criticism the you should be able to accept it also. Just my 2 pence worth but there seems to be a pattern forming here

Here we go again. I know the track layout may not be to your liking Mr (Or Ms/Miss/Mrs) HornetRacer 1971 but why not take a gamble and come along anyway. I'm sure you'll find all of us amenable and you'll have a fun day out to boot. After all, isn't any hobby supposed to be fun?

Like a few I did find your original post offensive as you criticised someone's hard work without seeing it first hand, in the flesh so to speak. I'll leave that there as we're just touching upon a subject that's already discussed.

The last part of your previous post is most definitely offensive. Whilst I haven't been bullied at school or anywhere else, many people have been, possibly people who have contributed to this thread or even just reading it. All very well wanting to 'state your case' but there are ways to do it without potentially upsetting people. Bullying is a very serious matter that should not be used in a context like that.

Your original comment said that IF there were more lefts and a proper straight, that you would spend the money on diesel fuel, but NOT bother if its a small track. I find that very funny. Clumber Park is a HUGE place. I think they even used to have a Lombard RAC Rally stage there!

Everyone that goes, does as they wish.

So I suggest you're missing the point of these meets and suggest you attend one, and actually find out!

A reminder that the next ClumberRcMeet is a week on Sunday. Sunday 31st August.

We had to move the October date into November so the next one after this coming one is Sunday 9th November.

For this coming meet, we will look to have a 4WD race. This was requested last time by a few attendees. Nothing serious, just a giggle.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to give this one a miss. Gutted but got to save money for the 2 day snetterton meet and the dt02 challenge. Hope the weather holds out for you and you all have a great meet 😉

There is a 50/50 chance I can get to this Sundays fun...I'm ill prepared and working all day Saturday, but I'm going to try.

I've got a Sand Scorcher, Holiday Buggy, Blackfoot and a Wild Willy that I can bring is this ok?

Where does everyone stay on the Saturday evening? I'd prefer to come up tomorrow and be there bright and early.

I intend to make this one too although I'll be driving over in the morning so hope to be there for 10ish. Really looking forward to it!

Edit: I'm bringing a Lunchbox, King Blackfoot, Twin Detonator, Clodbuster, Rising Storm and my Holiday Hammers (if I get it finished in time).
