My biggest gripe about the Tamiyaclub forums is that one rule is often

broken, and nobody does anything about it. The rules say, and I quote:

" Swearing or aggressive posts/comments of any sort will not be

tollerated. This includes obvious mispellings of words where the clear

intentionis to swear." Maybe I'm the only one bothered by this, maybe

I'm sticking my neck out too far, but swearing on the TC forums has

been on my nerves for some time. As collectors, I think we should keep

our website higher brow then the more, shall we say, immature (i.e.

"toast your tranny with a 5x1")-type hobbyist's site, kind of set an

example. In short, KEEP YOUR FOUL MOUTH OFF OF PUPLIC FORUMS! O.K., I'm

done ranting- let the chips fall where they may.

I have read a few swear words in the past but it is no where near the profanity I have read on other forums.  I would have to say this is one of the cleanest forums.  If a posting writes something that is truly offensive then report them to the mods

Think it is not that bad actually, this is one of the most language frindly sites i've ever seen.

Sometimes a diffrent opinion heats up a bit between 2, or a new guy that did not read the rules is ovios used to other forums.

There is enough checking, i even had a video removed becouse the used lirics are to "heavy"! ( and it was just hardrock )

But what do you see as swearing, the odd cra-p or badword ? Sometimes mild swearing is quite usefull to express your feelings anyway :) Makes things quite clear.

If you see such those please use the "report abuse" link under the respective post and help make this forum even cleaner then it is, compared to all others I have seen.

Oooh Joel correcting people's punctuation, i hope this is a sign of things to come fella!

And i also think there needs to be a limit of Swearing/non swearing, because the b word which rhymes with Hugger isn't swearing in my book.

I agree I use the ****** word a lot and usually a lot worse words especially when things go wrong)

but we have to appreciate there are young children on this site and if the words were not censored then it would not be a helpful place to be just having *** **** t would like be watching bad lads army

And I am at school and don't want to be rusty on my spelling on the first day back (as you can See there is not one piece of punctuation in this text)

the kids off today know all the relative swear words etc  and then some  so some pc people wana get a grip and take a step forward .get used to it i swear all the time but when the time is rite.

I use a lot of swear words, particularly when I am doing DIY or building models [:P]. But I don't think that they belong on a discussion forum, when you make comments here they are more considered than what you might say when you hit your thumb with a hammer, and in more or less all situations there is a different way to say what you want than resorting to bad language.

This site excels in it's content being free of most things people could find offensive, and that's quite an acheivement for a site with the amount of contribution Tamiyaclub gets. Although there is the occasional lapse of language and/or content, it is normally swiftly followed by a mod reminding the offender of the rules and the offending post being removed.

I tend to agree with Jozza and the O.P. - day to day "real life" is different to the forums. You should be thinking before you type and swearing is a cop-out in this case - be more imaginative.....

There are many ways of expressing your feelings in words and getting your point over without taking the easy option [;)]. Also the argument that, "it happens elsewhere so just get used to it", doesn't hold much water either imho. Whats wrong with trying for better standards here than elsewhere?

Maybe I'm just getting old before my time, but I think trying to keep the TC site and forums a place where you would be happy for your gran or younger kids to browse through is no bad thing.

Not meant as having a go at anyone, just saying why I think a clean forum is a worthwhile thing to aim for. I think TC is one of the cleanest most unobtrusively modded sites I visit so the club must be doing something right!

the subject is about swearing on the TC forum, it doesn't mean you have to write how you speak in life (swearing or otherwise).  Replies/post on a forum are typed, and so you can choose your words and take time to compose your text - not wanting to speak for <> but I'm sure they cope with day to day language in the real world![:D]

The point is there is no need to swear on a forum site.

Just my ******* thoughts.[;)]

Swearing is not tollerrated on this forum, for the reasons others have stated. I don't care what anyone talks like in real life, I don't care what language the kids of today may use or whats acceptable on the televeision before or after the watershed. Here it is not accepted and thats the end of it. If people don't feel they can express themselves here without swearing then this is not the club for them. Its not a question of others 'getting used to it' its just a simple case of, don't do it in the first place.

If any leaks through because some people cannot find other ways to express themselves then as Theo said you can easily report it and it will be addressed. If they keep doing it then we'd have to look at their membership. I can sort of understand that people may just naturally talk this way and that it slips out without intention to offend or be aggressive - thats what we have the automatic filters for. But what I don't understand is when people deliberately mis-spell words to try and get them past the filters. This is not habbit, its not real life slipping over, its someone saying they understand the rules, but can't think of any other way of saying what they have to say and think the rules don't apply to them. These people will receive less chances and will probably just find their posts deleted.

While on the topic, its against the forum rules to be agressive in your posts, either by swearing or name calling etc. Everyone is welcome to post opinions on topics here, good or bad, but as we've said before when your opinions are basically just calling others childish names because you don't agree that is against the rules, no matter how strongly you feel on any topic.

When you've stuck a screwdriver through your finger or something, hand got in the way of the knife etc [:D] They are usually outbursts though aren't they, and unless some people on here have tourettes, they can moderate what they type.

I agree though, the amount of input TC gets, we all try to keep a civil tounge.

Wow! I miss checking my posts on my lunchbreak and my post runs out of

control! Yes, I know you hear swearing everyday, I don't live in a

vacuum tube, but as aforementioned, I don't think it belongs on a

public forum. Sorry if I rubbed somone the wrong way, but I'm just

stating my position, and I'm standing by it! By the way, thanks to those who backed me up in my absence!

Under certain circumstances, I think swearing is acceptable.  But if every words or everyother words include the "F" word than is too much.  Those that swear on a regular bases find nothing wrong with it.  Those that don't swear or very little will find hearing those swearing words very offensive and unbearable.

Here is a test to see if you swear too much.  Have a consversation without using any swear words.  If you find it difficult than you probably swear a lot and have difficulties expressing yourself and is a tough habit to break.

Once you break the swearing habit you will find how offensive it is when you hear someone saying the F or swear word every sentense or phrase.
