Okay folks, in an effort to relive my youth I would like to start a new thread (don't want to search the forums) with new thoughts on classic rivalries.  I remember several shoot-outs between different Tamiya vs Kyosho vehicles in an effort to pick "the winner".

Tamiya Clodbuster vs Kyosho Double Dare - performance was won by Kyosho here.

Tamiya Blackfoot vs Kyosho Big Brute - I can't remember this one !

Any 2wd or 4wd classic rivalries ?  Can be any manufacturer from the '80's folks.  Let's have your examples & thoughts !

Kyosho Ultima vs Team Associated RC10 for example.

I have the RCCA from way back with the article "Clash of the Titans" Part I where they pit the CLOD against the Double Dare.  I don't have part II though - but I'm guessing Kyosho won that one.  Although I'm sure they Tamiya credit for the "Ingenuity".

Thoughts / Examples ?

I know that RC Model Cars did a shootout of the Bullhead vs. the USA-1.  The Bullhead won.  RCCA did 3 Monster Truck Shootouts that I know of.  The first was a short article comparing the Big Bear, Blackfoot and Big Grizzly.  The second included most of the trucks avalible in '88 (Strangely, the Grizzly was absent from this one).  Oddly enough, it was the lowly Big Bear that won.  It actually didn't win any of the catagories, but placed high enough in each to bring home the win.  By the time the third shootout came, half the feild was comprised of racing trucks.  I don't believe they actually gave an overall clear cut winner in that article.

RCCA also did a comparsion of their modified RC10 vs. their modified Ultima.  In stock form though, I don't remember the Ultima being much of a contender against the RC10.  With Kyosho's line of Option House products however the Ultima was a threat.  Those two buggies remained the only two major rivals here in the states until the Losi JR-X2 enter the fray.

That is right !  Good old Team Losi sent them all scrambling didn't they !  Yes, now i remember some of those rcca shoot outs, when they scored points based on different things.  I also remember that for some time the Clod was king of the "truck of the year".  Don't remember who knocked him out though.  Keep 'em coming - I want to add these "rivals" to my showroom.
