Ummmm, sorry, the drybrushing is obviously what I was thinking about and you won't be letting us down apparantly since you will be doing that later. Still can't wait to see the mud fly.

Looks great Dee. Love that you are taking the decal scheme from a hot rally car like the first WRC focus with martini advertisement! Do you know if Collin Mcrae is planning to drive the Dakar next year, he might gett a kick out of seing this when it is finished! Hope you keep the paintjob steady and perfect as you have done until now, would be great shame if you have to strip it...

Cheers

Anders

You are freakishly talented. I have never seen so much detail put into a model. I am seriously impressed!

Thx, I made some real progress today.

I weathered the body and assembled some parts:

It's starting to look better every day!

Tomorrow, I'll fit the parking lights as there's some problem fitting them in but no major issue though.

There is still a lot to do:

-Making the stays for the mudflaps on the front (inside the wheelarc).

-Painting the details and correcting the red and blue paint (it suffered too much during the weathering).

-Adding the red and orange markerlights.

-Adding the stickers.

-Adding the cockpit.

-Adding parts for the winch (incl. steel cable), some painting.

-Connecting the lights.

Hope you like it so far.

Dee.

Yup, but next time I'll use a dark grey as the black is a bit too strong (but then again, who cares?[:P]).

Btw, did anyone noticed that I assembled something wrong?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SPEECHLESS and placing the "WET FLOOR" cones on the ground around the puddle of drool forming around the computer. [8-|]  I must say this Hummer is the coolest I have seen EVER and floors anything else around here including the 1:1. I live near a neighborhood that likes to flaunt its money and so I see s bunch of H2 and H3 with their BLING BLING on and this one is the best by far.

Anyway, down to the question as I have forgotten which page out of 20 something that you tell us where the basket netting came from and the screen behind the front grill. Thanks for the answers, will look for them here.

The net on the roofrack is made of some insect screen.

The net in the front is made of some filter mesh, sprayed black.

A RC car is supossed to be driven but... I would think twice before...

I thought the windscreen wipers were "parked" the wrong way, but I checked and they are not.

So, it has to be the front protection bar should be attached with "bolt heads" and not "screw heads" showing.

I'd like to see the 1:1 screwdriver that is used to do up M40 screws!

The only thing that i can see is the driver and co-pilot names are not the same name on the top, but then this could be how they are in real life lol. Looking stunnig still though Dee [y]

LOL![:D]

Nope, the side bars were mounted wrong, left is right...now I got them right!

Hmm, maybe I should make a manual for myself...

Anyway, did some more work:

PICT0360.jpg

Connection of the rooflights (the roofrack is a conducting frame).

PICT0361.jpg

A little piece of foam to keep the dust out (well, an attempt that is...).

PICT0362.jpg

Same for the cockpit.

PICT0363.jpg

Parking lights painted and fitted into place.

Also the fairlead rollers are painted, tomorrow I'll attach the hook.

Sweet dreams gents and thx again for those nice comments![Y]

I'll take a now...

That's on purpose.

The top name is the name of the man on that particular side of the car, like IRL.[:D]

I think O. Anderson runs a Formula 1 team now.

D. Stone has crawled back under the....well...stone...where he came from...

Thx!

Ok, last ones for today:

PICT0364.jpg

Hook attached.

Note I put a piece of plastic card behing the grill, painted metal gray.

That way, the mesh shows better.

PICT0365.jpg

Connection on the back, no glue needed.

Good night gents!

Dee, I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I really hate the time difference cause it is just now 5 pm and more building could be done.[:'(]

The thing I didn't think of, the hood latches, need some "chipping" AT THE LEAST if they are to stay white. I hated not doing any more detail to my FJ 40 build and the latches were what I wanted to accent the most, but they are lexan and not as sharp as yours.

The reason I think they need "chipping" is the fact that in my military service, I worked on ground support equipment. We painted some of the latchs in RED when they needed to stand out, IE rubber straps on the batteries. Anyway, the paint stuck for a while, but after being latched and unlatched several times over some time(months, sometimes weeks) they would start cracking(paint would) then the crackles would flake off and they looked "chipped".

I didn't want you to think I was being overly critical, just wanted to add my thoughts on real world stuff for details since it would appear this vehicle is painted to have at the minimum tried out for the race, just getting ready for competition.[:#]

Thanks again, hope you have to stay home all weekend now so we can see it in all it's glory by Monday [:D]

Ahum, modest as I am...I think, due to the many compliments, it's gonna be a Tamiya Star...a quality star earned by myself...right?...ehr...[A]

I hope I have inspired some folks to do the same as I also like to see that kind of stuff and I've seen some pretty good qualities here at TC!

You are invited![:D]

Thx for the idea but I want to stay as close to the real thing as possible, they are black, sorry.

In fact, I want it to look like a Hummer which could actually do the Dakar 2007, including real life sponsor stickers (f.i. Alcoa (forged wheels) doesn't go together with OZ-racing etc., all the sponsors are real life ones).

I think it's fair to say that no-one would begrudge you a star for this masterpiece, Dee. It's the best thing I've seen since the camo-painted Wild Willy (with the shark-tooth helmet).
