Can any of the 934 owners do us a favor check to see if these kits are serial numbered? Surely if the 414, limited to a whopping 1700, can be individually engraved, they could grace this kit with the same treatment?

-Steve

Found it!

There are at least 49399 items!

Mine has number 49400!

Cool 'ey?!

....

Ok...there's NO serial number.

Indeed, a 1000 items is not confirmed but I don't give a dime.

IF it is true, I have at least one of 1000.

But is that all there is?

No.

It's special.

To me.

And that's what counts although I want to know the facts too...

I don't really give a dime either - I just want to buy a kit or two at a reasonable price.

Even if there's 100,000 produced, it will not take away the fact that it is a beautiful model on it's own - provenance or no!

From what I heard from our LHS owner, although the kits were released in Japan on the 4th, the Canadian distributor had a handful sent via overnight airmail.  Everyone else apparently opted for surface mail (including the US) which puts delivery in January.  This would make sense as Tamiya US is stating January 07 as the delivery date.  What has not been confirmed is if the kits are limited to 1000.  Even if there was only 1000, I don't think that they all were sold off in Japan.

Thats what I exactly wrote above [H], US and Europe will get a significant amount too, it will just take longer as they opted for surface mail.

Also Jason (akhirabamalrat) states in his store "Please be aware I have no more 30th Anniversary Porsche 934 Kits for

sale. Apparently only 1000 were made and sold out Japan wide on the

release date. What limited back order stock I may receive has already

been over reserved already and I cannot take any further pre order

requests" and he is usually very correct with his info.

The key line is 1000 were made and sold out Japan wide on the release date.

I have not been able to get a answer to whether more will be made and nowhere has Tamiya officially announced that is all that will be available for Japan. It is a 49 code kit which is limited edition sure but so was the Dyna Storm re-release and that was around for years (though partly because it was slow to sell).

I assume the 1000 made first was a mix of hype for the 30th anniversary and making sure a high value kit like this could sell unlike the manta ray and thundershot rereleases which are still on store shelves despite their limited production run & low price. I expect in a month or two more will become available.

I think the "30th Anniversary" label makes the difference.

To my knowledge, no other Tamiya anniversary kit has it specified like this, nor in the kit, manual or other way (but I could be wrong, it's all based what I know now).

That's why I think the 1000pcs. for the TRF415 934 is at least plausible while the TamTech 934 is "unlimited", it all makes sence to me.

On another hand, I would feel sorry for people who want to discuss this hype and found out later that it IS actually true but lost time argueing about it...because they're all sold out one day, if it isn't already.

I'll take my chances.

Tof Force box and manual have 100 kits anniersary logo on them, just it wasnt a "limited" 49xxx kit.

Even the Black 934 had a special box and manual with a celebration logo (just cant read it [:$]) and even a unique carrying bag

getuserimage.asp?t=g&id=img16_01102004151700_6_350.jpg

Btw the 934 chassis isn't a TRF415 but a less high spec special chassis based on TA05 with 230mm wheelbase carbon fiber double deck layout

Right, it wasn't limited.

That was my point.[;)]

Agree, forgot about that almost 30 years old one!

This is a very good example about "I-wish-I-bought-it-back-then item", got my drift?

It says so on the box, sorry...[;)]

So with all these statement, even more reason to buy this 1/10 934!

Theo, do you already have it or have you been told it will arrive around end of january too like the ones in the US?

Just wondering about the European release as I'm probably not the only one in Holland (or Europe).

The only reason why I bought it, still I must say I am more excited about the TTG one, as this seems to me too halfhearted attempt (generic non correct 4WD belt drive chassis)

I already have it but got mine directly from Japan as a) don't like supporting Tamiya Europe (=Dickie/Carson) :P like saving alot of money [;)] c) don't like waiting for months compared to the rest of the world [+o(] With the speed of Dickie we will see it propably in Europe in 2007 as few weeks ago in a local fair I went they didn't even had a TTG Fox! I can remember saying what would be good reasons to buy this 934 but I don't want to search through the topic for proof. (it's out there somewhere, maybe in another topic).

Sorry I didn't combine those in my last reply.

Anyway, my point is/was: buy it! (for all the reasons mentioned above or somewhere else), that's all.

Or don't...(for the very same reasons mentioned above and/or somewhere else) [:P]

Oh forgot, I'm also very pleased by the TamTech 934!

But in another way.[H]

Has Tamiya given a definitive date for the tamtech release?

On the rc champ website there is a date of 23/12/2006 but as i cant read japanese i cant tell if that is a definite date or not

Keep an eye on Theo's blog (I always do), I love that and keeps you very well up-to-date.

We should have that kind of blog on the home page of TC.

Nice work Theo!

 As I suspected.

This is all I needed to hear, thanks.[Y]

" sorry, it's not worth that kind of money for a re-release "

It's not a re-release. [*-)] But the value does have something to do withthe fact that upwards of 15% goes to eBay/PayPal fes, so consider that 'built into the price'.

Wow! Tower Hobbies has already dropped the price down by $35! It was $549.99 and now it is $514.99. And if ya add the promotional code in for $50 off of orders over $500 then we are looking at $464.00! Not too bad! Hopefully they get them in stock!!

Are you guys sure this is for the 1/10 limited release, the only Porsche 934 I can find on Tower is the 1/12 prebuilt diecast 934 in

Jagermiester orange.

Link please?

You need to read more carefully [;)], it says on the box that some parts like the double carbon decks are based on the TRF414M and the TRF415, but never is stated anywhere that its a TRF415 as it simply isn't, just compare both chassis and you will see.

I'm in for a tie:[;)]

Let's say it's based on a TA-05, TRF-414/415, I think that'll cover it all.

That makes this chassis unique to the 934 and that's what I meant and what gives it it's value (for it's no re-release but a stand-alone).

Thx for the blog redirection.

Have a nice weekend!

Dee.

Actually the TA05 was based on the TRFs, being an entry/plastic version of them,

still you can't call a TA05 or a 934 as TRF415 as you in analogy

    |     |   |

you don't call a BMW 318Ci or 330Ci as M3 [;)]
