2 speeds were originally allowed in buggies, as well as steering gyros

and active traction control systems. All were banned before they were

popular. They were all banned for the simple reason that if they were

allowed everyone would have to fit them, by banning them they just

removed a non essential expense from the car, not for any technical

reasons. They were banned from tourers when the rules were first

written for the class, a bit upsetting for HPI who had just brought out

a 2 speed 'box for the RS4 at the time.

i see... thanks 4 the info.

I do remember the first rs4 having a slipper clutch as standard part, kyosho also issued 1 as an option..

non-essential expense? hmm... I got mine for 7500 yen a couple weeks ago, the very same price it's been offered for since it first hit the market. And currently a top of the line motor is worth... about the same, or even more for hand-wounds.

ah well, not up for a debate, however just want to inform that setting the shift point correctly is quite a task, more so than doing the same task on a nitro car.

I had a 2-speed for the RC10 stealth transmission.  I worked really well, but you couldn't get a gear cover over it.  Also, as the battery would loose punch, the transmission wouldn't shift.

true that as the battery lose charge it won't shift.. but fortunately the kit's 1st gear ratio is within the right ballpark for a 19t spec motor. will give the 23t a try, see if more torque can make a difference.

Guess i'm in line for 4200mah stick packs. Got about 3 or so minutes out of the 1700s... Or would lithium be a better buy?

speed...? about comparable to a stock V-1S3...
