so my new tt01 mercedes-benz c-class dtm 2004, so took it out for a play with a7.2 3000 mah batterty in it, and new batterys in the supplied trigger/wheel controler, and the reverse is a bit **** u push reverse and it dont allways work, and then after about 5 mins of playing the car started cutting out, it would just stop, then quick on and off and it world work fine! it is damp out side and im thinking this could be a factor! as i was running with out the shell!

thanx for any advice

dampness could be

Also if you have the electronics mounted in a way the reciever wire is close to the motor or esc, try moving your reciever or antenna wires

did you put 3 capacitors on your motor? Makes a huge difference

ok so car has dried out, turned on and beeping from the esc, so i tried to reset and i keep getting a constent flash! in  the manual this says there is no contoller signal, but the controller is on! so were should i look fot the problem? reciver, controller or esc??? the car is a factory built tamiya, so came ready to go new in box! and cant work out why after five mins it would play up! also could a faulty ??battey be to blame!

it cant be a faulty battery because if it were then it wouldnt power the esc to bleep at you. so my guess is a factory faulty esc (where theres a problem with it before it leaves the factory)

could it be your motor short circuiting?  I read that a short circuit will tell the speed controller to kill the motor. It says you have to find the fault and fix it, then reprogram the speed controller..

I am getting this info from the TEU-101BK instructions..

Try the system in another car or with different motors etc. That way you should be able to find the fault within the system. It could be a lose conection with heat that cause a wire to become lose and a contact to be lost. Possibly due to the corrosive effects of the water and electricity on the fine circults of the esc and receiver.

I would ensure its not the water issue before going any further, To dry out my electronics I pop the guts out of the reciever and then hit it with a hairdrier for a couple of minutes.

I don't pull apart my ESC but I do hit the s.o.b with the hairdrier, rotating and jiggling it to displace any moisture as I go.

Managed to bring numerous such parts back to life.

Hello Martin, long time no speak.

sounds like water ingress, my sons tamiya supplied ESC is also a bit fussy when it comes to water for some reason.

first upgrade on your car would really be bearings, then ESC and motor, i ran against some TT01s in my club for a while with by TB02 and i wasnt much faster, not a bad beginers car but consider upgrade to TB02 before spending huge amounts on it.

I had an esc with the same symptoms this week until it eventually died. When I opened it up there was some moisture in there and some contamination on the underside of the circuit board. Having removed the f.e.ts one of them was found to be short circuit across all junctions. Best to pick one up on ebay, always handy to have some spares.

Mud.

Brooklands 280 as in capri, go on how u know me name? i take it i kow u lol

Oh, you do know me martin... i think the last one i owned when you knew me to have a capri was 3 litres and an X pack...  now have a sweet period modded 2 litre 4 speed with the obligatory 40s and a stupid camshaft...its more fun and faster than any 6 potter ive had so far.

Small world the internet, lol.

hows your mate doing after he traded his capri for a hairdressers car?

lol he got that from my dad! after i turned it down :-p   im thinking glyn, got the car sorted, borrowd miss's hair dryer and hit the esc and recever with it! and then orderd a water proof esc for good look!

any 1/10capri shells avalible for a tt-01??

Posted

ha.... i just knew youd ask that.

i did extensive searching a while back and heres what i came up with.

carson did a 1/10 zakspeed shell in the mampe colours with decals, i have a few but to be honest its hardly what youd call to scale, it looks more like a cartoon car.

kamtek do a 1/8th mk1 shell that fits my 1/8th rallycross EB4 really well, i like it.

my absolute fave though is my 1/5th mk1 RS3100 shell thats on my FG tourer, hobbytech have just released a mk3 zakspeed shell for the FG tourers as well.

there also a mk1 shell avaiabe for the mardave v12 range.

at the moment thats about it, ive got a couple of mk1 escort 1/10th shells on the way, both lexan one in a 190mm width and one in a 200 for my nitro car.

what esc did you order, i got an m tronics one recently pretty cheap that takes motors down to 11 turns, and one of them motors will really make your tt-01 fly!

Thatl do, to pair with that would be a 15 double motor, but the next thing is defo a set of ball race bearings and a propper metal prop before you go too mad, the plastic prop is useless.

after that lot grip will be a major issue, ive allways used a T27 carpet tyre, allthough its an indoor tyre ive found em really good on all of my nitros, a set of decent oil shocks will also be needed.

i believe carson have discontinued the zak shells now.

ok, in the post today i have had a set of ball race bearings, a metal motor mount, a ally prop, and a set of adjusable rear arms and my new esc, im waiting a 21 turn motor i have orderd, i will try this and order a 15 double turn motor, but i dont want out to daft while im learning! i have been looking at tyre/wheel sets as the ones i have are just slicks!!   the new esc does not have an on and off switch is this normal???? can it cause a problem?

Just wanted you to know that every time my esc pip's like that, it has been wet. Hairdryer should work, but I alway open it and spray it with WD40, 5-56 or other similar products. Has worked so far.

Cheers
