Right.

I bought a Blazing Star...

They guy at the hobby shop said it had a TA02b chassis...

I never heard of this, but i agreed...

NOW people are telling me it has a TA01 chassis and which ONE is it?

The guy at the hobby shop showed me a touring car and he said it looks just like this one. Ive been on the tamiya websites, and all that they say, is that its a '4WD BUGGY' chassis. Which doesnt help me, so WHICH ONE IS IT?[:D] (which ever one it is, theres not very nice hop up options for it. No carbon fibre or anything... anyway

please help me guys?[:D]

Do you know the website where this is available?

I dont really like my local hobby shop... No offense ......!

I thought it was a TA01 initially but you would think your hobby shop would be correct...

right, i read it all. and now know the entire history of the manta ray, BUT i still wanna know where i can find a carbon fibre chassis Mr mastermind?? That page that you gave me to read still confuses me though. It says that the TA01 and TA02 etc, were made from the manta ray chassis. So my question is what is the manta ray chassis called?

To answer your questions it is likely you will not find a carbon chassis new sitting on a store shelf unless you just happen to stumble onto it. Asking politely here or keeping an eye on eBay will yeild one sooner or later.

As to the chassis 'name' it is the Manta Ray. Simple huh? As was pointed out in the link above the chassis tub is used on other newer cars like what became the TA-01 and TA-02. What I would bet is the case is that the Manta Ray is among the last of Tamiya's models that were not classed by a chassis group like TA-01 or TB-02 etc. I cannot think of any chassis before (with the exception of the 'ORV') that bore a type designation in spite of Tamiya's widespread use of parts among many models.

On the contrary:

You have a buggy with a chassis that is a slight variation of one the most succesful Tamiya chassis of all time: the TA-01.

IMO, its much nicer to have a particular chassis for one particular buggy, and not try to force a touring sedan design onto and offroader that just doesn´t do the job (see: Baja King and TL-01).[B)]

Yeah, this is an instance where a Touring car(TA01 +TA02) grew fro a buggy chassis, which seems totally weird. Mantaray is a great car, I had one for a wee while but never had it running. Pity, I would have loved to have had a buggy in my collection.

Thanks

If that's the one you bought/traded from Netsmith, then I bought it from you. It was subsequently traded for a TL01 911 GT3 (Doh! [:I]) and I'm pretty sure I saw it up on ebay recently.
