Hi there gang, I've been wondering is it important to install non-polarized ceramic capacitors on every motor ? Well, I've been running my T. Detonator without any capacitors for sometime now but nothing has gone wrong so far . Anyway, I'm also currently using the Novak Super Rooster together with the Tamiya Sport Tune motors . Is it true that running without installing three 0.1uF (50V) capacitors on each motor could damage the ESC ? Thanks...

It's unlikely to make any difference to the ESC.

The reason we install capacitors is to reduce the amount of electrical noise created as the motors spin - this can cause radio interference.

I always use them. They guard against radio interference. It's not much more work to solder them on when you solder the motor leads. some newer motors even have them pre-installed.

Every time I get a new motor I have to give it a try without (Cramming them into srb motor covers is a pain), but without fail the rf just trashes reception making car totally unpredictable and un drivable. So I too always use them, and always have to deck one of the legs to gearbox case. I love the little pcb types that slot into modern end bells though, much neater [:D]
