Has anyone got any ideas or had a similar experience with this.

Have been racing 4 times now and everytime I go at some point during the evening the steering on the car "***** up!!!"  It usually happens if when the car is turning an either gets knocked by another car or against a wall.  Either Servo saver comes off the servo or in the case last night destroys the cogs in the servo.  Added to this last night after chewing the teeth off one set of cogs it went and did the same to my spare one as well.  After borrowing another one off one of the other racers, the actua servo saver got chewed up!!  Getting a bit disheartened with it at the moment as only seem to get a couple of mins out of 5 minute race befor eit breaks each time!!!

 Anyone got any ideas?

WOW....

What brand servo are you running, and are you running the original "Kit" servo saver and linkages??

Why I ask is that I loaned a TL01 to a 13 year old to have a go at racing with. He had never driven an RC car before, and because of that I wasnt sure how the TL01 would hold up. In each of the 4 heats of his first 3 race meetings, there wasnt much he didnt hit. Track Barriers, other cars, Brick walls, corner markers, other cars, Marshalls, Drivers stand, Did I say other cars, (he did hit a lot of other cars LOL). At one point the race director was getting a little scared as he was the only thing out there that he hadnt hit.

Well, the grand total sum of the damage to that car in that time was a broken dog bone, Thats it (and he kept driving it in 3 wheel drive).

Things I would check are that you are running the little black O rings in the diff drive cups, without these it allows the dog bone (drive shaft) to move to much, and this can cause the dog bone to "pop out" when you turn and make the steering bind. Also check that the steering linkages do not hit or touch on anything when you turn.

 Goodluck.

the two servos it destroyed where Acoms AS-12's with the plastic gears in them.  The servo which destroyed the servo saver was a HITEC on with metal gears.  Yes they are all the standard savers, linkages etc.  The car had anew chassis befor elast night and there are no score marks around where the steering moves so that is all free.

I cant really comment on the Acoms servos, as they havent been bought into Australia for 10-15 years, so Im not familiar with them. Maybe the problems you are having is the reason why no one imports them here now??

The servo saver would have possibly suffered a similar problem that Nitro John has suggested when used with a Hitec servo. You didnt state how the servo saver failed, but if it stripped the spline where it joint to the servo, then that is the fault.

Again, check and make sure you have fitted the o rings to the diff outdrive cups on the front. Not having these fitted can and will allow the drive shaft to be partially ejected, and cause the steering to jam. This is an easy step to miss, I have forgotten them many times.

I can only see two solutions to your problem. One is take the car to your Local Hobby shop and see if they can help, the other is buy another brand servo and try that.

RC cars are not bullet proof. They will break in a bad crash.

Acoms AS-12..............

They are just really if you are doing light indoor driving. I have had probably 7 break on me before and it is because they are cheep and for the price of £5 they aren't the best quality.

got to jump up and disagree, i have started to really push my Rising Storm to the limits now.

Huge truggy wheels and spike tyres give loads of grip and yet the AS-12 servo is coping fine, been in from the start and no problems at all.

My Storm has 13x3 motor and 4000mah pack, i definately recommend AS-12 servos, for anything!

Yes I think I will have to go back on my self

they are very good servos and I have had one in my Blackfoot extreme and that has never broke.

I guess your LSH might have had a bad batch
