So Cal Tamiyaclubbers, we have to do this now before the holiday madness rolls in.

It was over 80 degrees today in the beach cities.  As I was outside today painting up a bodyset, I thought, "wow would it be nice to be running my (insert running car here) on the beach."

It won't be as warm as it was this week but weather permitting, I think we should do it!  James (Toykid) and I have been talking about a run this sunday.  If you're able to make it, chime in and let us know!  It's short notice, but let's just grab some batteries and a running car and get out there already!  I'll bring a few projects to show, and the spot is good for onroad and sand running, as well as crawling.  Bring trade material as well if you have it!

 So, who's in?  [H]

No kidding about summer being back.  It was warm here in the SFV.

Count me in.  Should be able to make it with one or two cars.

Can you send me or post the details?

Armand, thanks for the reply.  I'll post more info in the next day.  We've got a few guys going, they just don't bother to visit the forums!  [|-)]

Jim,

I'd say we'll start a bit early, maybe 8-9 am.  I think Toykid said he had to run off in the afternoon but the rest of us could run a bit more.  Of course, we say that but last time most of us broke down after 2 hours anyway!  [:'(]

I'll be there. I'll bring a couple of little projects of my own as well.. [;)]

Post the directions again though, I only remember the freeway exit.

Working out some details as we speak, this is still on despite being a bit quiet in this post!  More info in the next day.

James let's email each other tonight to work out exact time, etc so we can finalize plans by friday.

FYI it looks like the early start time is killing everyone (including myself!) so let's shoot for 10 am.  If that poses a problem let me know, but some guys are coming from quite a bit aways so the later time should give us some time.

Also please don't forget daylight savings time starts that weekend so you'll get an extra hour of sleep!  [|-)]

It looks like I might be able to make it.  I've gotten preliminary approval from the better half.  What will you guys be running mostly?  what would you want me to bring for show and tell?

Posted

Jim, it would be awesome if you can make it!!

I will be running my Hi Lift and my homebrew Bruiser that I wrecked last year. I have approval from my better half to fully geek out on Saturday to prepare for this event, so I'll see what else I can get running.   I take it James will be running his SS and others.  You never know what Alex will show up with!  I might bring my SS but I had bad luck with it last time so I'll probably hold off on it.  There's room for onroad action as well, I'll bring my TT01.  A few of the other guys will bring Lunchboxes, Blackfoots, Bruisers, etc etc.  So it's kind of "run what you brung".  No specifics.

As for things to bring, man I'd love to see some of your tricked out SRB's!  And your Technacraft wheel collection, heh!  [8-|]  Also, if you're in the mood to deal a bit, I'd like to see your Wild One and Monster Beetle you have in your traderoom, as I'm looking for both.

A note to all, bring plenty of motor spray and lube.  You'll want to do a good flush on your drivetrain after running out there.  I'll bring a 5 gallon tank of fresh water to get the salt and sand off.  Good things to know from our last time out there.

Hope to see you there, it's going to be a quality day out!

I'll bring one of of the gold plated RC10's, maybe the Rough Rider. For running, a bruiser and a couple of AYK's (a Viper and Sidewinder), maybe an Ultima. They'll be easier to clean than the Avante I ran last time. It was a pain to get all the sand cleaned out of it! LOL!

To run I was thinking runner rough rider, wild willy 2, High Lift, King Hauler and my Xray just for giggles.  I can bring my 4wd scorcher and rough rider.

This is starting to look like a good turn-out.  Will be showing up with an unrestored Hornet, and either a WW2 or a Lunchbox, and if I find time and all the parts tomorrow, my Frog that I've been collecting parts for for the longest time.

Just wanted to clarify directions.  I looked at the map, but was wondering what exit I take.  I'm guessing that it's off of the 405. Not too familiar with the exits that way. Will be coming from the San Fernando Valley.  Any landmarks I should be looking for when I get there, or will it be pretty obvious?  Thanks.  Looking forward to the meet.

Here are easy directions:

 405 to 105 west

take 105 W to the end, it will turn into Imperial.

Take Imperial all the way to the beach, you'll end up on Vista Del Mar.

Make a left on Vista Del Mar, and a right into the parking lot at Grand.

Look for a grey Nissan Titan (my truck)

Shouldn't be hard to miss then [Y] .  Cool truck.

Will be installing bearings in my Hornet tomorrow after getting it running earlier this evening for the first time in about 15 years or so.  Yay.   And if time permits, re-doing the rear shocks and possibly painting the little driver dude.  btw, anyone have any tips on securing the foam wheel on a Futaba Magnum pistol radio.  The one for my Hornet spins around the "wheel".  Double sided tape?

 See you guys Sunday

Ahem, who's the showoff now??  [:D]

John, you must be a HW collector?  If you're talking about HWC Amy, she's long gone, if I recall correctly she's doing things at Shelby now.

 Anyway, back to topic...

James are you bringing out the WWII with paddles? I forgot I had a set, I might have to throw them on my Willy as well!

Here's what I'll bring:

runners

Hi-Lift

Hardcore Hilux (now rat rod FJ40, this is an in progress project so not much to look at, but it runs like badword)

WWII

maybe my TA02 4WD baja Beetle, if done in time

show:

GULF GT2

Monster Beetle

Taisan Z

ahhh...whatever else I feel like grabbing.  If anyone wants to see something specific from my showroom, let me know!
