Futaba 4VWD radio

Recommended Posts

I know this has been mentioned before in another thread but has anyone got a definitive answer as to why this radio is not imported into the UK.

It operates in the 27Mhz frequency spectrum so easily falls within the surface model requirements of the UK as far as I can tell.

Please discuss.

I got mine today from ebay - from hong kong based seller dragonshophks.gif

I only ordered it mid last week, it took less than 4 working days to arrive!

so if you can, buy one from there, its cheaper than any quality 4 channel radio available in the uk, its 27 Mhz, designed for vehicals exactly like the high lift. it also comes with 3 servos and a shift gate.

Mine cost just over £70 with the postage

only little problem is, the manual is in chinese [;)]

Why is it not imported? A question for Ripmax there.

They

probably don't import it because they see no reason to. The Skysport 4

they do import has exactly the same functions, apart from the shift

gate, but it is on 40mhz FM with a better quality receiver so you have

less interference with it. In fact the Skysport sold at the same price

as the 4VWD actually has better servos in it so is better value.

Based on this I assume Ripmax see no point in importing a radio

when they already sell a better radio for the same money. They would

not sell many as they have a very limited niche market, just Tamiyas

tanks and trucks until the Hi-Lift release.

The only advantage the 4VWD has is that there is a shift gate provided in the box.

I wish it was on another band besides 27 Mhz.  Here in the states, every newbie with an RTR has a radio on this band.  Since there are only 6 channels, there is a high possibility that your frequency may be taken.

There are 12 channels on 27 mhz. I find if you use the uncommon split channels you do not get interferance or many crystal clashes.

(ebay sellers seem to be doing good deals on all 6 designed for the xmods but they work fine in all 27mhz radios)

Apart from making one with a knife is there a place where you can get a shift gate for the skysport 4 range.
