Hey everybody,

Not too long ago I got a Blackfoot from ebay(where else??) I wasn't expecting much since I got it for a low price. Well to my surprise the car I got was absolutely MINT. I mean It doesn't have on single scratch on it, only a few rusty screws. I only paid $50.00 for It and I think it was an absolute steal. It is practically new-built.I doubt it was ever run. This got me thinking, whats the best car you've ever gotten for cheap???

Saw the unpainted RR (didn't know what it was before and thought was a radio shack special) on a shelve of a family living downstairs for about 5 years...figured it has to be some old make and ring the door and ask if will to sell...the lady (grandmom) of the house said it belong to her grandson and she just gave it to me for free....It was dirty but in excellent condition (no scratch, no cracks or nicks on the body) the only damage was the bumper and the tires and switch cover have dried out....spend over US$200.00 plus elbow grease to fixed her up. Very happy with the result [:)]but not the refurish process[8)].

I just got a new built unused, Traxxas Hawk 2 with receiver & servos, for $15 + shipping on ebay. Got a Traxxas Stampede (almost RTR) for $23 + shipping last year, but I gave that one away.

I generally pay very little for my cars. Most of them are in appropriate condition for what I pay, but occasionally, I get a good one.

Mint TL01 406, Wedico Semi truck, and a nitro kyosho alpha rally car for £60. He didn't know what he had. He told me that much before I saw any of them hehe. My first real steal.[}:)]

I got a 3spd Hilux last year for £70.00 with radio gear and then the guy finds a really nice complete Blazer body in his loft and lets me have that for free [:)]

Good deal - but I've paid too much for many items too.

Couple of years ago I decided I'd get some mini 4wd versions of my favourites cars, bought loads. At the time these were about £20.00 each on ebay[8)] now they are about £5.00 each[V]

my midnight pumpkin cost me £0.00!

and no i didnt steal it [;)]

got it off a friend as a non runner, it didnt run because the servoes wernt fixed inside the chassis, and the ball joints at the bottom of the shocks were snapped.

a few screws and shock ends later - and i had me a pumpkin [8D]

since i got it its cost me £3 for a new msc (old 1 caught fire - couldnt handle a 17 turn motor[;)]), and £9 for a new tail gate and body mounts tree - thats all ive spent on it, and thats all i'm planning to spend, so i better not crash it [}:)]

WOW!! I thought I had a great deal with my Blackfoot!! u can't beat free I guess, lol. The only Tamiya I got for free was my Frog, which I got from my uncle. It was a pile of parts whan I got it tho. I will probably be getting a good condition Wild Willy plus some spares from him for free soon.

I don't really liek to show off, but most of the time someone tells me about thier bargains I can make my famous quote: "Mine was half as cheap." [:P]

I once traded a fairly good Bear Hawk (which is a very nice car BTW) RTR with an old transmitter for a very nice Hilux 4x4. That's more than a year ago now though. [:)]

My Best R/C buy was a Toyota Hi-Lux complete with acoms 4 channel radio and Manual/Battery for £85 it had hardly been used. The guy I bought it from was into model making with lathes etc. He had made a a 1/6th scale landrover with a 4 cylider petrol powered engine. He cast all the parts himself and machined all the bits like the crankshaft himself. Now THAT is modelling.

My best 1:1 car was a 1983 Series 3 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 litre in excellent condition and 10 months MOT and 4 months road TAX for £50. The best bit was the owner was the father of my then girlfreind (Who hated me - LOL) (Yes both the GF and the Father -LOLOL) He had bought a new car and couldn't be bothered to advertise it. How nice it must be to have money!

Got a good one yesterday. One of the shop owners where I work had a boat that he wanted me to repair. I was suppsoed to pick it up from him yesterday. When I got there he had a hornet box, with the car in it, great condition, bad colour, and the boat, along with a gang of spare parts. He hended the lot to me and said, here you might as well have it I dont have time anyways. Then he asked if i knew anything about the gas motors, I said i knew a bit, so he said there was a few airplanes I could have if I wanted, and some other Tamiya monster trucks. Gotta love that

Mine has to be the barely run Avante in my showroom that I got for free. I was working in my LHS when a kid and his Dad come in after some help with a couple of old buggies they had found at home. The first one was a well used Frog that simply needed a reciever. The second car he produced was the Avante looking rather sorry for itself with a broken front hub. I explained that the car was long out of production and that we didn't have the bits although they could probably be found on Ebay or Tamiyaclub. I then told him that if all failed it was such a great looking buggy that he could just stand it on the shelf and that I really fancied getting one. At this point the Dad says that as we didn't have the bits and the Frog could be got to work, they didn't have much use for the car and would I like it. Needless to say I bit his hand off to the shoulder! To make things even better, a couple of weeks later I went into work and was presented a NIP pair of Avante front hubs. Turns out that Howard Wooster had phoned up for some bits and pieces and got told by one of the guys there that I had been given this Avante broken. He then kindly sent out the new pair which helped get it going. Cheers Howard!
