Hi,

Just a couple of questions on spraying the F-350/Juggernaut Body, What are the best methods of spraying on hard plastic bodys? Primering? Clear Coating / Laquering. This will be the first time for me spraying this type. I've had alook under other theads mostly Shodog's But would like to clarify a few things.

 1. Can you primer & Clear Coat?

 2. Best Paint to Use?

 3. Does weather effect a paint job finish?

4. Can you sand paint to get a better finish?

 Thank You in advance, Chris

1. Yes, but you better you use paint in between those two LOL

2. For me Tamiya TS paints or car paints with big 1:1 car airbrush

3.  Sure, better only paint at dry and warm weather/climate.

4. Yes, between layers too smoothen out or even for the final, best to start from 1000-1200 grid, work up to 2000 and then use some polishing compound.

Thanks DJTheo thanks for the paint reminder lol, I was sure about the weather effecting the paint mines probably not going to get sprayed anytime soon with this engish weather.

Another question if its ok.

Can you use Tamiya clear coat over 1:1 Paints? or is it only 1:1 paint = 1:1 Clear coat

Thanks again for the reply

Anytime your thinking about tryin different paints together, it's always good to do a test.  I have an old monster beetle body that has probably 20 different colors of paint on it.

My thought is if your going to use an automotive paint then it would be best to use the clear thats made by the same manufacturer.

I have just recently tried using automotive paints out of cans (no access to proper spray guns etc) on my new King Blackfoot. And although pleased with the result, the finish is no where near as nice as on my Hi-Lift. Although with more work/sanding I could have perhaps got as good a finish with the automotive paints. But a good result seemed easier to get with Tamiya TS paints.

ANTI ! if you are going to spray and its cold ,find a room heater,to warm up your paint space, a WARM! body is good and also warm up your paint, boil some water in a pan than take it off the flame  after  a few min put your spray can in the water let it warm up take it out after a few shake it up than put it back in the water repeat this a few time's and you should be good to go also make sure your body is clean ,nothing worse than a oily finger print, you can check out my showroom for some of my paint job's

GOOD LUCK

Yes, thats why I recommend above also car paints being painted with pro airbrushes and not car paint spray cans, Tamiya TS spray cans give better results, but if you have to use car spay cans (if the colour tone is not available from Tamiya), can recommend Motip ones, the best I have tested.
