EST is currently 5 hours behind the UK in daylight savings time. But when the clocks change (they already have) it can be 4 hours behind going into summer or 6 hours going into winter. The overlap is about 2 weeks due to North America changing clocks early into summer thinking its actually going to save them energy ( from what i hear it actually made things worse, people were burning fuels going out because it was light later).

Hope the ramblings help lol

So, to clear things up, on the 15th of May Jerry will post the riddle at 4:00pm EST (his time) so over here in Britain will he post it at 8pm or 9pm?

GMT is 5 hours ahead of EST, and 7 hours ahead of me in MST land.

So, 4 PM EST is 9 PM UK time, or 2 pm my time, and 1 pm on the West coast. I suspect North American members are far more used to dealing with time zones as there are so many across the continent.

Reckon it'll be somewhere in mid-August Australia time... we're that far in the future down here.....

Yeah but aren't you a day ahead in Oz?

so will it be the day before for you?

I believe the riddle will have to do with reading a clock..lol.....Anyway here in Florida the big hand will be on the 12 and the lillte hand on the 4 and the sun will be shining. I am like  +4 or 5 GMT. So 4pm, 1600hrs, would be 8 or 9 pm in the UK...  TEN MORE DAYS....

Your kind of right but in florida you are probably GMT -5, if you were plus five and you had the time as 1600 it would be 1100 in the UK.

As GMT is based in Greenwich, London, UK anything earlier in the day is minus, anything later is plus.

Yes I do take bribes'..but Darryn has already promised me a couple of liters of fine Scotch from Oz..On second thought a pint from the UK may be better than a few liters of Scotch from Oz if there is such a thing....[:(]
