man i just hate everything now [:(!]

LHS phoned today with what i thou good news it was in a way when i said NO. they can get a super clodbuster for the grand price of £229.99 nib. the phone fell slilent as i gasped in horror. now here it comes i can get one from rugby (afew miles from norwich ) and will cost £149.99 + £13 for postage the difference in the nib kits are NOTHING. i can understand LHS's puttin a bit ontop of an nib to cover overheads an things but where will it stop.

dont get me wrong im not aving a go at the lhs just feel so let down by sutch a differing price range thruout the tamiya range eg: lhs has madbull priced more than a tt01.

man i feel better gettin that off my chest

That is really off.... Wont they match the price for you?

It sometimes is region specific too, although I am not sure with tamiyas... Things are cheaper in wales than in sussex for example. Its actually cheaper to buy a sofa up in cardiff and have it delivered than it is to buy it down here!

Ask if your LHS will match the price, it will save you the postage I suppose (and you get it quicker....[:P])

May I please be cheaky and ask where you managed to get one for that price in the UK, as I am looking for one soon....

Many Thanks

The eBay store you mean is Rugbys Hobby Hut.

It's owner has the eBay id coffindodgers, there has been some discussion about them here on TC recently, but what i really hate is thier feedback is private!! It is at 99.6% and they ARE a power seller so hopefully everything SHOULD be okay!!

yeah slim thats the store name didnt see the topics on them so will search them out

Nickseab if he can come up with the kit at that price i will give u the shop name an phone number he is in east anglia and just started up on his own so not too sure on his price yet gonna have a face 2 face chat on mnday with the chap so will let u know on the monday evening. was also a hint that if more ppl wanted this kit (norwich area) it may come a bit cheaper i would say hes gonna say a price around £180 with his bit ontop that makes him £50/60 cheaper than my regular LHs. will try and get a good low price from him. watch this topic for more updates on price an other details.

I forgot about the Fusion discount, that makes his prices pretty good. So good that I think I'll order one now [8D].

I bought some stuff from Coffindodgers with no probs, but have heard that some items he offers are grey import and you can wait a while to get the goods, and get stung for the duty. Can't substantiate that though, like I say I've had no probs from him.

Check his "About Me" page - rather foolishly, he's letting the 20 most recent feedbacks be shown...

Get ready to see red! Looks like he is acting as a grey-import "agent" without letting on - and a few people aren't happy...

yeah sosidge i had a look and theres 3 bad complaints showing now [B)] i wonder how many more he has like that that he fails too show?.

he's crossed off my list for buying from put it that way

grey import [?] is this where they order from abroad an say u get it straight away but realy u looking at aleast a months wait ? if so why does ebay allow this type bad deals ?

Grey import - more generally it is something that has not been supplied by that country's official importer.

What "Rugby..." is doing is quite unusual - normally people will tell you if it is being shipped from abroad. Probably why he is keeping his feedback private.

Why does ebay allow it? Ebay isn't known for caring too much about what is being sold, and how it's being sold. They are just a marketplace for buyers to find sellers and vice-versa, they take no responsibility for the deals those buyers and sellers make.

The feedback system is an important part of making sure deals work. It can be abused, but I would always be wary of people with recent, multiple negatives.

I got my item from him quickly, but I think it was already imported, looking at the feedbacks it seems that the majority of stuff he is selling is shipped direct from HK, so it would take a few weeks. If I want to buy from HK, I'll do it from someone like Stellamodels, so I know what I'm dealing with. I think it's underhand to advertise kit on Ebay without mentioning that it's going to be imported after you've paid for it. It's also against Ebay's rules...

i know you have probably thought of this but gonna say anyway

how about tower hobbies

$210

add $30 shipping

$240 dunno what the conversion rate is at the momnent but if u catch it when its good

could maybe get it for 140 pounds

then add your 20% customs and excise charge

= 165 pounds

please dont laff at my maths lol

cheers :)

oh yeah thats true

plus it would end up being to much hassle

(adz wishes he wouldnt of said anythink now lol)

Tamiya stuff is impoted to the UK by The Hobby Company who I believe are in Leighton Buzzard, go to Tamiya UK page and look at distributors list they're addres and tel. no. are there.

Even if your not a FULL member of Tamiya Club James at Fusion still offers a 5% discount which makes the price £180.50 and that INCLUDES postage!!
