Scoobs Around?

Hope this is the right place to post this but has anyone heard from scoobs, anyone know if he's still doing Videos or still in to Tamiya Can't stop watching the kent Drift Video.

hi, i went to his showroom aswell to blatantly rob that rising storm vid (the coolest movie i have ever seen on here!) but it was empty [] that scoobs movies are/were legendry and half the reason i joined this club!

i hope he is well and comes back soon!

I noticed he joined on 11 Nov 2004, so maybe his membership ran out and he didn't / forgot to renew (as its about that time of year now)?

Maybe when your membership expires you showroom goes into a holding area, so no one can see the contents, but hopefully they are still kept in the database? Maybe Chris can answer that one? Or he could have just taken all the content down for some reason - someone ripping it off and trying to sell it perhaps (pure speculation)?

Agreed it would be a great shame to have lost him as a TC member as his photos and videos were superb. However I guess sometimes people move on, or circumstances change for them in such a way that they no longer have the time / inclination / interest to stay involved in TC.

Personally its been months since I have run / worked on my Tamiya's, and I still have about 4 or 5 projects half finished. Not helped by the fact that I am just starting resto work on my real car so free time is going to be at a premium.

Maybe worth PM-ing him to see if he responds?

AFAIK nothing gets deleted or to a holding area when a membership expires, you just cant add new stuff.

It's really a shame that Ben is no longer on tc. I guess he has realized how much time and money all this consumes and quit? Would be reasonable. Hope he is fine because he was a nice chap!

Strange thing was that he left so suddenly, I just hope he's alright.

I had the pleasure of meeting him, nice guy and his pictures and videos were by far some of the best I've seen.

Well, we had a problem last year or so with our valued member dunebuggy71. You might find the thread about if somwhere (Where is dunebuggy71?). He dissappeared suddenly from tc and luckily returned a half year later. He told us that his brother died in an road accident and that it took some time for him to recover from that.

In the last TC crash just relatively recent items were "lost", but Scoobs was longer around then that, so I am sure he deleted most of it himself, question is why though, although I can also think of quite few reasons...

These type of posts always end in speculation and intrigue.

Just email the guy and ask him, if his contact details are no longer valid then that's the end of it.

 

When a member's subscription is up, their showroom is not emptied, but they do have access to the 'delete' button stil, so can empty their showroom if they choose.

His showroom hasn't been deleted, the contents of it have.

i may be totally wrong so please dont take this as gospel but after seeing the 'not a proper tamiya enthusiast' quote i remember around that time he was invovled in some heated showroom comments with other members, i dont know if that played a part in it and it was a while ago so i cant remember what it was all about, just got me thinking thats all, after all this site can be 'clickey' at times with certain members who go down the my showroom is better than your showroom road and the classic i've been a member longer than you have, which doesn't bother me i just run my cars, break my cars, fix my cars and do it all over again!

The "proper tamiya enthusiast" remark shows that he or some other people felt that he was not a genuine member. Ridiculous! This is a vague guess, I think he felt misunderstood and that he was or still is in a huff.

I will not comment this anymore, this was enough speculation.

I just got my computer going (hard drive crash - I had no computer for a couple of weeks while I was sorting out the mess.) and I've been alerted to this thread.
