First of all, TA01 diff is different.

Saint Dragon, Madcap, Astute, King Cab and Toyota Hilux Monster Racer all use the same diff. No other models have the same diff. (The Super Astute has a gear diff.)

The Saint Dragon and the Madcap diff differs a little from the others as they have plastic thrust bearings (with steel balls) which wear very quickly, thereby ruining the rest of the diff. All other diff-parts are the same. You should definately get a Astute/King Cab/Hi-Lux diff.

When assembling the diff, use modestly amounts of diff grease, and be sure to tighten the three black screws very tightly, using loctite/liquid threadlock on the screw tips . The diff won't work very good in the beginning, but will get smoother as you use it. If you "adjust" (it's not adjustable!) the diff to be smooth from the beginning, you will just end up with a melted diff (again! [;)])

As you tighten the screws (each a little at the time), be sure to "massage" and rotate the diff now and then to seat/mate the balls and plates properly.

Properly assembled, the Astute diff will last a long time.

I own a Toyota Hi-Lux Monster Racer for years (bought it as a kid when it was released. [8D] You can see it in my showroom.

Since the beginning I used a " Dynatech 01R " and sometimes 8,4volts. [}:)]

I have NEVER had any problems with the gears , besides a broken bracelet (anybody knows If there is an aftermarket metal part availible - some us manufacturer made one years ago).

Now I have a problem. [V]

The diff seems to be broken or became loose or is melted. [8)]

I took it apart 3!!! times and reviewed it but I can't get a solution. The diff slips and slips and slips. It is almost impossible to drive with the car because it can't accelerate :(

How can I figure out if the diff is melted? Would it be helpfull if I make a picture and post it.

I need advice or spare parts, as I am running out of Tamiya monster trucks [:(]

check the (sorry for bad spelling, don't know translated words),

toothwheels -> axle fix , when those go lose by exescive heat/force.. they appear to be fixed, but when used, they slip over the axle. Had a simular problem with a boat of mine, had to swim for it :(:(

And, a 2e time when i could not find the problem..

Good luck!
