...very very often when a non member asks you a question about a model or where to find this or that, or how much it's worth etc. you help, write a long email and then no thanks, no reply, nothing....just stealing info and goodbye? (not even)

I have had non-members ask me a lot of very elementary questions, but

they almost always write a thank-you email. Guess it's only you[:S]!

The rules for dealing with TC mail (as developed over the years)

Mail; M8, that thing rocks, your gr8 how much dude?

Solution; Delete

Mail; I want it, email me you're address

Solution; Delete

Mail; I'm gonna buy your gr8 stuff m8

Solution; Delete

Mail; Send me pics of you're truck

Solution; Delete

I just don't bother replying now to any new mails where someone either can't spell, chooses not to, or is just plain ignorant.

Most times, I've never had a reply before, so I'm saving myself the time upfront.

If someone is thick enough not to be able to spell mate, great or any other words that can actually be spelt without an 8, then they probably can't read my reply either.

Also  gr8m8@hotmail.com is not a name - sign an email with your name, or they get deleted too!

And while we're at it;

Your - something you possess

You're -  you are

There - Not here

Their - Belonging to them

They're - They are

Well Im not as high profile as the rest of you, therefore dont get so

many requests for help. So then the ones I do get are usually genuine

specific questions.  Because of this they are always glad of the

help and are willing to reply with a short note of thanks.

I'm not sure profile has anything to do with it chap, a lot of questions I get are from non-members who seem to be just browsing showrooms with nothing better to do.

I'll help anyone I can, but it's the ignorant grunts who know enough English to know the slang (and therefore probably English) but can't be bothered to compose a question that doesn't sound like a three year old wrote it that I ignore.

Most people that email through TC have a keyboard in front of them, so there's no need for all this M8, Gr8 and L8rs, it's not like there's a rush to get it typed or a character limit on emails [:@]

Sorry, perhaps "high profile" was not the best choice of words.

Maybe what I should of said those with larger or more interesting

showrooms. Or the ones that have excellent and riveting input in the

forums. Such as yourself Twinset (sorry if these seems like a little

bit of a suck, but you get my drift).

I agree with you totally on

the text speak. I too find this annoying. I dont care about people

whose English is not that good if it is their second language. In fact

I feel extremely lucky that I am able to read their input, and somewhat

apologetic that they have to use another language.

As I am

living in Japan, and although I can understand and speak a little

Japanese, I am thankful of everybody who tries to speak English. Even

if it is not that good I will always encourage them for the attempt.

 When

people for English is their native tongue and dont even both to try (or

do try, but to corrupt their writing instead), I tests my patience too.

Sorry if I ran a little of topic. I guess these

people are not interested enough to go looking for what they need to

know. Maybe those of us who had to research what we needed before the

days of the internet and access to everything in an instant understand

more. Then there is spell and grammer checker for any important thing

they have written so are a little lacking in ability. Now this is no

dig at the young just the slack

I'm afraid I'm guilty of that. It just occurred to me then actually, when I replied to somebody about a kit I was interested in. I just realized that this was probably the first one I've ever replied to!! I've always asked the question, recieved an answer, then not replied back!! I'll be making the effort from now on.

So.....sorry to all the people I've done it to!! (I hope I haven't done it to you Jerome)[:$]

Ha, ha. How often did I notice errors like  "there"  instead of "their".... etc. Good point!

There/their/they're  ... quilty as charged.. actually, this is about the first time

i notice there a diffrence's in it! <whoeps!>

What usually really bothers me is people refuse or simply not mention there name.

I just don't bother to reply anymore 123duke456@hotmail.com .... is the guy named duke or something?

Or people asking for mesuments.. (for, a trailer).. so, pick the thing up, mesure it from top to bottem, make

a little drawing off it. So they/there/they're/their ;) can copy it. Bit of a job to do, but.. no problem.

not even a )#(@$#@  "thanks, later dude" email..

a well, luckly i don't have many nice models, so i don't get many quistions

At this point, i find my provider/spamfilter more evil! ;)

They/it had blocked a email@xxxxxx.net adress... nice, for anti-spam

To bad a TC member, wanted to buy a car, got cought in it..

Resulting me, to read the email to late, and selling it to somebody else

I would have prefered it going to a tc member.

<killing the spam filter now...>

back to topic :)

Sounds familiair!

I don't care if I do get a "thx" or not.

Ok, it's nice when this happens but I don't expect it.

I don't give info to get a "thank you", I give info because I want to.

Buying:

I do care about sellers that won't answer my mail.

Bad english or not.

Even when I send a second mail![:@]

It's not my native language so sometimes a error could be in it.

I can't judge if someone is serious or not, I'll always reply to their mail, it's about respect.

Customer is King, period.

Selling:

If he/she doesn't reply, then he/she is not interested, simple.

If he/she isn't satisfied with the item, send it back.(ok, only for TC members that is).

But in general, it's polite to say thanks when you get something you were after, period.

Dee.

I am guessing your first language is not english? You can be excused for the odd grammatical error, afterall you speak better english than i speak whatever your first language is. There is no excuse for laziness or ignorance. Always a risky buisness posting a reply to a thread where grammar and punctuation is the subject as a mistake will make the postee look ridiculous (sorry for any mistakes lol) <Is that ok, lol i mean or do i have to type ' Laugh out loud?[:P]

I get a lot of illiterate emails - the worst of which are from English speakers!

Personally for me, if there is text speak in their email and they're asking a daft question, there's always the delete key...

(And I've said before, lol in text was always taken by me to mean "lots of love" - as I had several friends who used it that way as an ironic statement - which brings a new meaning to many posts!)

Isn't that poster? [:P]

I'm pretty sure noone here would have a pop at any of the non English members'  grammar or usage, like it's been said a few times above, it's the laziness of those who keep one knuckle dragging on the ground that winds me up.

Wasn't like that in my day

well after 2 1/2 yrs of french I know very little so anyone that can put a few english words in a line (missing out joining words type thing) is doing well in my book.

It is simple courtesy to thank people for replying to a question one's posted.  I always try to and I ask dozens of questions all the time.  One day, I might be able to answer 1 or 2!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought LOL was 'Lots Of Love'!

I can't even use text-speak on my phone, let alone on a proper keyboard!  My text messages take for ever to compose: why do they hide the semi-colon like that?

Just my two penn'orth.

In my humble opinion it's got to be 'Whoops!'
