I really like that porsche 934.  I am definetly going to have to get one.

I think the Rough rider was just there for show.  I remember reading a while ago where they had a rough rider and frog and hornet at a show  and there was all this speculation that it would be re-released but it didn't happen.

There have always been arugments why the SRB's would never be released but what I would like to see is all the pot metal parts cast with carbon filled plastic.  it would be plenty strong enough and would cut production costs because the parts could be injection molded

Great car! Thx for the second link!

Now I don't know which one to buy anymore: the 1/10 30th-Anniversary kit or the TamTech 1/12...they both look stunning!

Ok, I'll do both, then I decide which one was a bad buy...

My japanese is a bit rusty so where's the button that says "more stunning pics here"?

Hoy ****, that speaking sounds like a wizard is speaking in that movie. I actually wanted to see one drive. And where can we see the other models/news from tamiya on that japanese site. I really can;t read a word there.

  OMG!!!

My Japanese girlfriend pointed me to this: Read the title of the movie backwards!!!

It says:

"Code o/t safe is 9, 3, 4, be carefull, 30 sec to get away agent Q4"

Scary, isn't it?!!![:|]

What does it mean?!!!

Is there a conspiracy going on???

Oh no, not that again![:@]

Anyway, the rest of the translation didn't gave me any clue:

"Hello everyone, welcome to this wonderfull day.

What do we have here?

I don't know.

You tell me.

(mic in his ear corrects him)

Ah YES, yes, it's a Kyosho! Yes!

It looks like 1/10 scale, maybe smaller, don't know.

Hmm, I don't like that color...do you?

OW?! It's supposed to be that way?

Wierd, as it looks like a rusty copperplate.

Cobalt? Hmm, ok then...

Well, I'm supposed to tell you a nice story in Japanese so the rest of the world wouldn't understand a single word I'm talking about.

Here we go.

What?

Ah yes, I'm supposed to use my hands a lot.

Ok here we go again.

Now this car is bigger than that other car but it looks the same model.

It looks like a very old one because it doesn't shines that bright.

Hmm, it feels pretty solid too!

Look, it has springs, up....down....up.....down.

Btw, I changed the wheel because I didn't like the original golden wheels.

Besides, they are way too heavy and look they are made of old Hi-Lux iron.

Well, what to say more?

Expensive?

Nah, I don't think so.

Maybe 200 dollar, not more".

.....

Wierd 'ey?

Why are they calling this a TamTech Gear? Its a kit and takes standard radio doesn't it? 1/12 isn't all that small. Same scale and box art as the first 934, on a brand new chassis - this is the real 30th Ann special I reckon [:P]

It's a Tamtech

Gear because it's basically an on road version of the Tamtech Gear

buggies, uses the same chassis with front and side extensions and the

buggy rear end. Uses the 280 size motor and TTG radio and battery pack.

In suspect it will also come ready built like other TTGs and it would

be impossible to fit standard radio into that chassis easily.

And the layout of the new GT01 is more like a buggy then a touring car... and I am not suprise subsequence

release of the buggy version based on this chasis.

They already do, the Tamtech Gear Frog, Hornet and Fox.

Hang on, think I got my wires crossed.

So the chassis that the 934 is pictured on is a  'TamTech Gear' one, which is meant to be small? When is actual fact it's almost the same size as the original, which as a 30th anniversary model I can understand. And that chassis is the same as they use for the TTG Fox and the likes, yeh? (Which would explain why the motor's slung over the back)

Whatever it is, it looks nicely complicated in the front end department!

I think it comes as a kit though not ready assembled on the front of the box it reads "assembly kit series" i have to aggree this is much more a spiritual rerelease than the 1/10 version.

Ahh Ok, I didn't notice the similarity of the chassis. It does say Assembly Kit on the box and it doesn't come with radio gear, though

I'll definitely be getting the Tamtech 934. Rear engine RWD - truer to the real thing than the 1:10 4wd 934, that should have been put on a carbon fibre tricked up F103 type chassis (with wheelbase adjusted to match scale 934) IMHO.

I hope it comes as 'finished body' though as that looks an absolute b1tch to paint properly with black window surrounds and everything! With a light kit and indoor racing with the lights dimmed it would look fantastic!

Should also come in at a more reasonable price than the 1:10 934.

Tamiya are proving now more than ever that they still have the magic - catering for modern, vintage alike with a mix of updated chassis with vintage shells as well!

Nice one Tamiya - You'll certainly be getting at least 3 definite sales from me next spring - 2 x 1:12 934's and a Subaru Brat re-re

Looking at the release date, I just realized that I will be in Japan during that time!  [:D]

Looking at that price, I will definitely be bringing one back to the states.  I wonder if this takes away sales from the $$$$ TA05 934?

I don't think so.

I think the 1/10 934 will be a very limited rlease, whereas you'll be seeing thhese little 934's *******in' everywhere.  (At least that's what I'm hoping![;)] )

I definitely be ordering myself a pair or two!

Converts to $115, £60, €89, although this is just for the chassis. Great price and a free choice on the radio to fit.

I'll be waiting for the body set of this or even better a 935, to go on a proper 1/12th chassis if the dimensions are the same.

After close examination of the picture I realise the GT01 Chassis is basically a GB01 tube chassis with bolt-on side panels to accomodate the radio gears..etc. I was so overwhemed  by the plastic rollcage and the laydown front suspension that make me think this is a complete new chassis... still Tamiya is real clever in utilize existing chassis.

From what I have understood it will be a kit and body unpainted.

Noone mentioned yet the vintage style boxart, I like it much better then the limited TA05 one! [H]

Yup, fully agree.

It would look great next to the "real thing", same scale, can't wait!

Besides, it will be my first TamTech, a personal milestone!

I like the 1:10 30th-Anniversary-kit for it is a "statement", a milestone, a limited release (becomes exclusive as the price is also quite high...a collectors item).

A personal milestone again because it is my very first belt-driven chassis.

Btw, did you guys realise Tamiya does exactly the same thing as the Porsche design department has done?

Their first 911 looks very like their latest one...[:S]

The Tamtech Gear 934 looks amazing and I will definitely have one. It may well take away from sales of the 1/10th 30th Anniversary 934 BUT bear in mind that the 1/10th is a limited release. Only 1000 have been made for world wide distribution.

Is that confirmed?

Not that I don't believe you but I start feeling lucky as I had backordered it in october at my LHS (didn't know any price or release date back then).

Now my order is confirmed and it will arrive somewhere in january.

She said it would be € 500,-...well, who am I to ask her if that's correct? (actually, I did and got the same reply).

As my granddad always used to say: "Feeing is beliefing" (you know that granddads with no teeth and bad eyesight).

Am also very positively surprised from the new Tamtech GT01 chassis, looks very high tech, also with its front damper configuration it can be fitted sleek bodies, so maybe we will see more classics like Countach! [H]

Cheers

Theo, you have hit the nail on the head as when I went on the Tamiya factory tour on Monday I saw the development guys working on a lexan Countach but was not allowed to take photos. Another car I saw was a Wild Willy style Tamtech gear with battery in the rear with a poorly fitting Jeep Wrangler shell, I think this was a development mule for a GB01 Wild Willy. Sometimes these things do not make it into production but this had perfect scaled down Willy/Blazer tyres so it must be a very strong possibility.

Great info cheers i expected a countach would come along cant wait if the shell is as good as this and a wild willy would be brill i have always wanted to do a tamtech scale one myself heres hopin. Maybe this is the way we will see alot of rereleases now as tamtech scale cars?

Is that confirmed?

I spoke with a large Tamiya reseller in Japan a fortnight ago and he said that all of their allocation of kits had been sold and that it was very unlikely he could get more due to the fact that only 1000 have been made. Read into that what you will, but I have no reason to disbelieve him. It looks like I won't be able to get a 1/10 934 Anniversary after all so I bought a Hi-Lift and all the accessories instead. Ho Hum. Would have much preferred a 934 to a Hi Lift.
