I have the World Cup by Kyosho. It's quick with the 2spd, belt drive and carbon deck. Can't say which make or model is better. I went with Kyosho was because is popular here and the model I choose was simple for a first time nitroer.

Tamiya have made a couple: The TG10 (of which they did a 1:8th scale mini [:D]) and the XBG (I think [?] )

Both of which are said to be good cars. Although I was put off nitro for bashing as they, for the most part dont reverse. Some trucks do I think, however not on-road, without a gearbox....

Sorry TGS not XBG [8)]

I've always thought Tamiya nitro cars were a bit pricey for what they are, pretty slow. I've heard the TGS is only good for about 25mph which is barely quicker than electric. In my LHS the TGS was about £220-£230 which is about the same as a Kyosho Alpha GP 3. This has a .15 sized engine and alloy oil shocks. Even better is the Thunder Tiger TS4-N while it only has a .12 is even faster and handles better. Of course, you could always go for a Schumacher Fusion, 1/10th, .21 sized engine, 3 speed box and 80mph standard[:0]

If you want a cheap fast road car then the Thunder Tiger TS4n is a very good belt driven car with lots of adjustable bits that's based on the Kyosho V One S series, it's just a lot cheaper and comes RTR. Being Thunder Tiger, replacement bits are cheap as well, which is something a lot of people forget about when buying R/C cars, and there are also loads of upgrades available. If you do go for one then I suggest the TS4n PRO V2 as it has a couple of extra bits on it including the 2 speed and alloy shocks and it doesn't cost that much more than the standard one. If you just want something cheap then I know Hamleys of London (tel:020 7479 7358) are doing the TS2n, the 2 wheel drive version, for £150 with a controller.

If you want more info on this car then check out the forum on the american distributor for Thunder Tiger:http://www.acehobby.com/acehobby/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=9

Sorry if I sound like I'm trying to sell you this car but as a proud owner of TS4n Pro I feel it's only right for me to tell you how good it is!

a racing pipe and tuned gears with a larger engine could make the TGS into a good nitro racer as long as the engine is run in propperly and a higher % fuel is used. most local LHS's will give u 10%/15% fuel its ok to run in with and learn control but if more speed/power u need to go to a 20%/25% fuel more punch and speed upping the gearing to 2/3 geared system would push the car even faster but then u need to retune the engine for this change too nitro cars are a mess sometime and exspensive to maintain run but they are fun

Cool thanks guys! I am stuck between a 1/5th car and a 1/10th nitro! What is a fast stock nitro car?

Cheers

if u want something fast then go for a Schumacher nitro fusion, they have r a 3speed, 4 wheel drive and when geared and tuned right they will do 70MPH+ and thats with nothing being added to the car! i have seen one of these cars run and they r very fast!

If you wait a wee while Tamiya is releasing its TG10 Mk2 chassis. I used to race a Mk1 tuned with, pipe, manifold, 2 speed, carbon chassis top plate, and heaps of hop ups, check my showroom for the cars pics and it was very competative. But the Tg10 Mk2 looks very tidy and very low. I would wait and see what happes when thats released.

Thanks

ok a nitro fusion goes like the clappers 3spd on some models but where are u ever going to get it flat out 70mph is quick and will take some time to get used too. i gotta go with jimmy_gtr on this one and say wait for the TG10 MK2 they look sweet as [;)]

i would go with 1/10 as shells parts are cheaper than the 1/5 size cars i would think.

Hey Justin, anything that attracts more people into buggies is great because then they'll start building off road tracks which us electric fans can use!! [;)] Hardly any off road tracks near me, actually there aren't any at all. Lots of indoor circuits for touring cars though [|)]
