In an effort to start some conversation about the classic 3-speed the Bruiser - I present a link for a brand new product.  CNC'd axles - front & rear for the Bruiser/Mountaineer !

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52393

I know some of us do not believe in the service at rc4wd but let us speak of the newest addition to the classic lineup [Y].

(For those interested, I have found service from the rc4wd ebay store exceeds that from the site. My 2 cents) Enjoy !

Well hey!  I guess I'll pull my Mounty project outta the trash can now [:P] Lol

Seriously though, I am so glad to FINALLY see a complete solution to that butter-soft front axle.

Makes me want to run the vintage metal! (Just when I thought the new F350 put them on the shelf for good.)

Or have them anodized:

IMG_6454.jpg Personally, I like my axles to be black; How often do you see 1:1 rigs with 'billet' casings?

I know it's not true to the original three speed look, but then who was in love with that dull gray pot-metal color to begin with?

Given the metal fabricating equipment that are aviable to the public now a days, I am glad someone / company finally offer a metal axle casting.  I have seen clawers or special projects all decked up with hop ups and after market metal parts except the front and back axle are still in Tamiya black plastic, it just doesn't look right.  Now, the picture is properly completed.  Much Nicer!

Looks great, but I'm afraid of the price.... lol

Front Axle $159, Rear Axle $149.  Not as much as I thought they would be [;)].  Although these aren't the final prices yet . . . . . . . . . . .

Knuckles, nobody mentioned you need new knuckles too. $?00 ?!? [^o)]

Wrong Link fella, that link is for some that are hella-expensive! [:P]

I do admit though, they look cool, maybe if someone could make some axle-housings like this, that accept TLT Internals?

I think there a little pricey but in the long run not a bad deal , considering that a standard monkey metal axel costs in the region of £80 of flee bay ! IMHO [:D]

Personally find the axles unluckily timed after the F-350 release (it would be different if they were released before) as since then it doesnt make as much sense to modify an old 3 speed and originality fans would anyway preffer the original ones, also you can get a complete old 3 speed chassis for that money. Also durability won't be much improved as if you put the stronger axles to be able add some stronger motors the next weak point will come up, the old gearbox. On the F-350 such an axle makes much more sense for the metal or bling loving people.

I have to disagree i have found that the axels are a weak point check one of mooseys vids you can see one of the axels bending , zakspeed has damaged one of his and i had a near escape jumping mine and to be fair it does all boil down to how hard your going to drive the 3 speed but thats what there for ? or is it that people with 3 speeds in yorkshire get carried away ?

The 3 speeds imho aren't made for such bashing but scale driving as they are totally just too weak and poor perfomers and when you reinforce the axles the damage will be just transfered to the next parts (bend leafs or chassis, broken tranny). As I wrote above, before the F350 we didnt have an alternative for a 3 speed basher, but since the F350 imho it doesn't make much sense to hardcore bash old 3 speeds as they are much weaker then the F350 and replacement parts are getting rarer.

Well DJTheo i understand exactly where your coming from on your line of thought , and in some respects i do agree but i find that the new 3 speed just has'nt got the same feel to it (great model that it is !) i would just like to point out that i due respect your coments as a valid tamiya nut and mybe the way i have wrote it seems a little harsh !

cheers andy
