What cars do you all drive?

Recommended Posts

Mk 1 MR2's are great cars, i missed out on buying a pair of accident damaged cars about 3 years ago and was really gutted about it. Donnington is great track also, check out my pic in the garages there with my old Pulsar GTI-R on the previous page.

Just bought a new car myself, Ford S-Max.

Well i got my new car during the weekend. It's a '94 Ford Fiesta RS1800, One of the only ones on the country. The thing is rapid quick compared to what i'm used to and pulls like a train. It has 135-140bhp which is plenty for the moment

I have started cleaning the engine bay since the last pic was taken so it is looking slightly better at the moment

Oh, Petrolhead, My hats goes off to you on that bit of driving in the vid, not sure if i'd be able to recover like that!

Whats it like? I will be looking at a new car in the coming months, and I must admit I quite like the look of the S Max. Not sure I could get used to an people carrier style car after driving hatches and saloons for so long

The S-Max is a good car, it has loads of space and drives really well, doesn't feel like a big people carrier at all. The two rear most seats are quite cramped and are only really suitable for children though, and some of the plastics are a bit, well "plasticy"

Had a Renault Scenic before and got tired of it breaking down for no apparent reason so it had to go, the S-max was the only car that matched it's spec and wasn't French (sorry to any readers in France, no offence intended) and also looked good in my opinion. Only had it about six weeks, but all seems fine so far.

Problems with a Renault? Cant believe that for a moment....... Well I can actually! My previous car was a Laguna. Had if for 3 years, and I did over 10000miles in courtesy cars and hire cars in the first 18 months!!

But. I do like how the S max looks and I know it gets good reviews. The plasticky feel is typical Ford I would have thought, and the same with a lot of manufacturers at the moment that are trying to cut costs. The thing that does put me off though is the emissions. I would get slaughtered for income tax

Well, i just got a new one last week ..

New.. for me then it is,

a long wished for Jeep Cherokee from '94

4.0i high output, and bone stock.

But, that is not going to last for long,

Many parts are comming in these weeks for a full facelift

Just have to get that "suv" look away from it :D

Not quite planning to go offroad a lot, as i wrecked my previous 4x4 with that.

That is not wise to do when you also use it as daily driver.

Just a 2005 Saracen D-Tox for now, but should have some thing alot faster in November. Its going to have to be old as Im near on 6ft 3" and I cant comftably drive most small cars. I'd like somthing along the lines of the old RWD Fords (Escort mk1&2, cortina e.t.c) or possibly a Humber like my Uncles.

Which engine are you looking at? The 2.0 diesel costs me no more than the old 1.9 diesel Renault. The 2.5 turbo petrol engine maybe another story though.

I have both the 2.0 Diesel and 2.5 Turbo on Focuses. And the 2.0 Diesel is very low tax. The 2.5 turbo is very high tax band, and doesn't do much to the gallon either, but its good fun :D

Maximum of 2.0 My current 2.0D Volvo, which i think is the same engine as the Ford comes out at 154g/km, but with the S-max is 169, and therefore in a different bracket and will cost me loads more. ANd now that the euro4 concession is no longer relevant, i will get stung even if I go for the same car! Think i'll get a Smart Car!

The focus 2.0 is only 148, and I was lucky to get mine before they removed the Euro 4 benefit. Typical tax man. Realise diesels are getting around the higher tax banding, so remove it..

Have been seriously thinking about getting a focus or similar. I was originally looking for something bigger for my growing family, but I just dont see why i should be penalised for it. Therefore a something like a Focus Zetec 2.0tdci with the Sport pack added on B)

is the 2.0 TDCI focus cheaper to tax than the 2.0 TDCI S-Max? B)

We were actually talking about Company car and good old tax man taking his share, it goes on the CO level.

Not sure about the actual road tax, mine I think is 110 a year. Whats yours costing?. Again, CO levels alter car tax

Love it. :) By the way, below is the car I got married in many years ago. It was my MkIII Escort estate with my own inimitable paint job
