I've spent the last 3 years building my 2.0L 16v Turbo (6 speed) Vauxhall Nova.

Finished result:

It started life like this:

I've just recently upped the boost, once I get the actuator set right it should be over 280bhp, which is silly fun in a car which weights less than a tonne.

Nice cars, guys!

I drive a 2003 Mazda Protege ES with zero performance mods (for a change.) It's frugal, reliable, has four doors (which is just plain convenient) and yet between the suspension, discs all around and, of course, a manual, she always puts a big ol' smile on my grille when I occasionally take her out for a spirited romp down the back roads north of Dallas. Oh yeah -- and she's paid off! :)

The pic (if I did it right) is from when I toyed with autocross racing last year, where I quickly discovered that at the limit my driving style and front wheel drive just don't play well together. I suppose that's what radio control is for, and it sure saves on tires, too! :D

1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata, base model with no power anything, factory hardtop, and aftermarket wheels. Runs like a top, but needs some freshening up... I have always wanted one of these. I'm so pleased.

Zaurusman, I had a 2002 Protege DX for about four years. Awesome car. I never should have sold it.

Since a while I drive around in an antracite Golf III GL. Only driven 63000km, pretty less for its 17 years. I love that car. Best thing is that it isn't mine, so I don't pay taxes etc. But I am the on;y one who drives it.

Why does your plate say M3??

Because I had the wrong photo up. Basically I just photoshopped the numbers off the plate.

That looks rare! havnt seen one of them before! B)

It's rare enough, there are only around 300 registered world wide and half are in bits or ready for the scrappers sadly, the 'Lowlight' (named such as the headlights are lower than later models and they also have the distinct shorter, rounder nostrils in the nose compared the the later, longer grille type vents) were made from 1955 untill late 1959, each year has subtle differences in trim and available options which makes each year even rarer again as they all have certain '1 Year Only' parts.

Seems almost criminal for it not to be in sunny southern California!

Here is my new toy - had a 2006 Kawasaki Z750S from new but am now piloting a bike I never thought I would own - the mighty Honda Blackbird! The performance is phenomenal! B)

Nice choice of door cards... B)

WOW, never seen such an early model before, I would coat the whole car in wax oil just to make sure it doesn't rot through.

Why not restore it?

Why not restore it?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Seriously, don't this. In fact, I know you're not even thinking about it. Rat look is a bit of a fad currently, but these old VWs were the original, and will always look good. Here's one I got some pictures of that won a local show recently...

Hehe, it's been Ankor Waxed and staying as it is. Theres quite a story behind the car actually and it's in the June 2006 Volks World Magazine with a 5 Page Feature and centre page A3 size Poster.

The quick and short version of the story though is this:

It was found in SHedd Oregon, small farm town. The car broke down and the original owner just parked it. after all the years went by of sitting, Blackberry bushes covered the car so you actually could not see it at all. The old man died and the estate went for sale. The person who bought the property was clearing out the shrubs and blackberries and there it was! after 30 Years of sitting there!

It has since had a Volks Fab 4" Narrowed Adjustable Beam, CB Performance Dropped Spindals, the Rear dropped 1 Inner Spline, a set of Original Raders and now JGE Torkers.

Engine wise it is now running a 1641 with Twin genuine Italian Webber 36's, 4 into 1 Ceramic Header and Single Quiet Pack. Oh and new Interior.

I also have the full Volks World Magazine Feature in PDF format on Megaupload if anyone wants to download it and check it out - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZJ12M690

I also have all the Original Papers and Invoice:

AND a picture of what it looked like back in 1959!
