Great idea Chris! Looks like a superb new feature.

Only thing I've noticed is that you can't get to it from the front page anymore... will it be included into one of the top menus at some point?

May I suggest to show the correspoding member name unter each thumbnail instead of "view"? It would make it more easy to get a quick overview about each entrys owner.

Also I would really love to have some kind of group conversation option. Maybe a special board or something which is only accessable for sig members? It could be made accessable from each sig's homepage and the sig owner would be moderator.

If you haven't noticed this already - SIG owners can now easily email all of their members. There is a new option just below the edit link.

Use this option wisely, anyone suspect of using it to spam members of their group with trades etc will have the option removed. Its meant for club business not personal advertising from the SIG owner.

Cheers

Chris

Chris, could you change the extension of the "group email" (into .doc for example).

Can't open it directly and found out Word can but then I first have to store it instead of reading it on-line.

Now I have to download it to scan for viruses (I prefer to scan on-line).

Another Q: when will the appliance notice be re-directed to the person who's applying instead of directing it to "Tamiya club"?

Thx, I'm quite pleased with your new feature of TC.

First of all I must say that I absolutly love the new SIG system! Great idea!! I have one question. This may have bean covered before, but I have not found it. I would like to enter two of my modells in two different SIG's? But it looks like it is impossible. I have a 49xxx modell that is also most fit to be in the QD club. One of my goals with the QD car SIG is offcourse to gett all the QD cars on TC in it! I am sure it is the same with most SIGS, I would also love to have my QD DTM car in the DTM sig? Have you anny thoughs on this? Maybe there is a reason it cant be done? It puts me in a dillema, I want to be members of all the SIG'S my cars can become a member of.

Cheers

From earlier post

One final thing. Each item in your showroom and movie area can only be associated to one group. This is by design. The idea is you think about what group it is best suited for rather than taking a scatter gun approach. You can't enter duplicate items in your showroom to get around this, but there is nothing to stop you entering new pictures of the same model and assigning it to a different group if you wish (as long as they are classified as 'extra info') Basically the idea is we want each group to 'feel' different and the best way of doing that is ensuring the pictures are different in each one.

and another earlier post

I guess what I was really hoping was that people would be selective about which clubs they join. Sure there will be overlaps, but I thought they'd look at the group as a whole, its members, the quality of the pictures there already, who was running it etc and then make a decision which one they want to commit too. Personally I could join lots of the groups so far, but just because I can meet the criteria doesn't mean I will join every one that will have me. I've looked at them, thought about it and joined the ones that are a real interest to me

Mini monte carlo is a good example. I have one of those but if there were three groups M-01 Chassis, WRC Chassis or just a Mini Club personally I put mine in the Mini Club, as I bought it because I love minis and thats where my interest lies, the chassis and the fact its a rally version are secondary to me. Other people might have got it because they love rally cars and in their case the chassis and the fact its a mini don't really count for much etc.

I'm not kidding myself that everything will be an easy split, or there will not be some models you genuinely want in multiple groups, in which case I'd hope that the only one group per model appraoch will encourage those people to take more pictures emotion-1.gif so they can enter different ones in different groups.

Thanks for finding back to this Netsmith, then I stick to the QD group[;)] There are other people who have the Manta Ray black special witch maybe will enter it into the 49'rs.

Thanks

SIG applications should now have the return address of the person applying rather than the clubs address. (Please confirm next time you get someone applying and post finding here)

I am guessing I was not the only one sending you messages like "Welcome to the sig for bla, bla, bla" then? [:$]

or is this just an improvement?

I might have broke it. Try applying for the "clumber park bashers" test sig - its on the last page I think and I'll see what happens.

If you get an error message let me know
