The new SIG section of TC is starting up [:D]

Open to all paid-up members, it allows you to associate yourselves, and your models, with certain aspects of RC, or setup or join mini-clubs according to your interests.

This feature is only open to paid-up subscribers;

Ok, first, go to http://www.tamiyaclub.com/sigs.asp

There you'll find a set of logos representing each SIG (Special Interest Group)

Select whichever one you want to sign up to by clicking the logo.

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006222956_6.jpg

Once done, you'll go to that SIG's page, and at the bottom of the page you'll find the 'apply' link

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006224030_1.jpg

Click that, and an email box pops up for you to email the moderator of that SIG.

All being well, you might receive a mail back confirming your application.

ADDING MODELS TO THAT SIG

As said in other posts, adding a model to a SIG does not remove it from your showroom, and that showroom entry can only be used in one SIG at a time.

And here's how;

Once you are in a SIG (via application above) you will accumulate 'banners' at the bottom of your TC front page.

I currently have 2, UK Crawlers and WW Racing;

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006224030_2.jpg

So, there's 2 SIGs there I can associate models with.

To do so, go to showroom proper, and select the model to add to the SIG - Remember, it doesn't leave your showroom, you're not deleting it or anything.

I'll be doing the highlighted yellow one;

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006222956_1.jpg

Once that entry is open, click 'edit model';

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006222956_2.jpg

 Then, in the S.I.G. dropdown box, select the SIG you're adding to;

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006222956_3.jpg

 Then, 'update details' as per normal;

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006222956_4.jpg

You'll then get an 'associate' banner at the top of the page;

getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_17122006222956_5.jpg

If everything's gone well, it should also be on the SIG frontpage [Y]

Entries on this page are in chronological order, based on when they were added to TC, not when they were added to the SIG

May I assume this is only open to paying TC members? I can't see the "click to apply" button. I'm such a cheap sod....

Yes chap, paid up subscribers only.

I updated mine just by clicking edit movie, choosing the sig and then clicking upload movie, it didn't reupload the movie, just changed the details, like it does in the showrooms. Just be careful to click the correct update details button ie if it is on the TC server, press the 'upload to Tamiyaclub' one ( not the other one like I did and lost the whole thing!). I've just tried it again to make sure and it works fine, added a previous Hovercraft vid to the AMphibious RC club.

Cheers.

Great how to write up Andy.  One question though, how come some of my models will display the SIG banner but they won't show when I click on the SIG

Absolutely no idea Jim, sorry.

One thing I have noticed though, for new showroom entries, you have to go back in and edit it to attach it to a SIG, if you do it when you upload the pics and description, it doesn't work [:|]

Jim, it could be that your pic is #41 - The SIG page only shows 40 pics, and they are displayed in order of when they were added to TC, not when they were added to the SIG;

So, if say your 4WD Scorcher was the first car ever on TC, but there were already 40 entries in the SRB SIG, it wouldn't show up ever [:(

I just noticed the same thing with my M-03 Mini that is in the M-Chassis group - it was there, but now it's not [:^)]

I'm not quite following you on the #41 thing though --  I have two different M-chassis cars in that group,( my M03 Mini and M02 VDub) but the more recent entry of the two still shows?

Ok, the SIG shows 40 pics, but in the order added to TC, newest one at top left, oldest one, bottom right

If you add a car older than the bottom right one, it won't show in the SIG

If you add one newer, the one that was bottom right will disappear;

The pic below, the last truck (Black Clod) is #40 pic in the SIG and was added to TC on 05/31/2005

Any truck uploaded to the SIG that was added to TC after 05/31/2005 will bump that truck off the page and into SIG obscurity.

Any truck that was added before 05/31/2005 will not appear on that SIG page unless one of the entries already there get deleted
