What car(s) would you like to see released in the future?

Recommended Posts

I know this has been covered before but I'm doing someone important (to all of us) a favor to get it all in one thread.

So here we go:

I would like to see more (classic) supercars or experimental cars released in 1/10.

Also the very exotic ones like the Mazda Cosmo and RX-7 (first generation) for instance.

I also would like to see more detail on the interiours.

I'm sure you can think of a lot more.

Think about chassis structure and/or shell design (hard body or lexan), price range, package (incl. gear or not), popularity (like the Beetle, Mini etc.).

Feedback me!

Dee.

I would love to see a 1:10 Ford Sapphire Cosworth, when I owned the 1:1 I hunted everywhere for one. You cant even get a static 1:18 of them B)

Its a legendary car in the UK yet gone ignored by every model company

Ford RS500,

Ford RS200

Ford Escort Mk1 Mexico (Roger Clark spec).

ReRe of all the early hardbody kits. (Mmmm, Wild One and Rough Rider rere)

A return to the proper boxes.

Some hybrids. Like the Lowrider Pumpkin, or even a Truggy (the 1/8 wheel adaptor kit looks very promising).

Something that comes with a driver.

A worthy thread [Y]

What I would like to see is Tamiya creating the occasional R/C model that has more than just the body shell modelled after the real car.

I would like to see more models where the underlying design philosophy is based upon the real 1:1 scale vehicle - as is the case with the Sand Scorcher, the Rough Rider, the HiLux, the Tanks, and the Porsche 959 - to name five.

History shows that where Tamiya went to the trouble to model more than just the mere body shell after the real car, they created more highly collectible models, with a level of long term enthusiasm amongst fans that is more than merely "skin deep".

Cars with generic chassis shared between 50 other cars won't do. Cars with bodies recycled from other kits won't do.

And cars that have realistic bodies, but unrealistic drive trains (like being 4WD when the real life car was 2WD) won't do either.

Also, don't skip the small yet essential details (like a driver and interior detail).

Forget performance. Come on Tamiya, give us at least ONE R/C car kit in the next TEN YEARS that is the equal of the R/C Tank kits for pure indulgence in realism, with less of an emphasis on pure profit.

Shunsaku Tamiya himself admitted this year that the R/C Tanks are an indulgence that aren't really profitable. It isn't unreasonable to ask for a car kit that follows the same philosophy! [:P]

cheers,

H.

I'm with dunebuggy71 and DJTheo, some classics and select modern (not just JGTC and WRC cars) touring cars would be good as would some more variety on the Hi Lift. I would also love to see a return to more realistic offroaders such an expansion of the CC-01 range and some scale dune and baja buggies.

I'd like to see more good scale off-road buggies and trucks.  The Hi-Lift was a step in the right direction, and the Brat re-re is a nod back to the classic plan of putting a detailed hard shell on an off-road buggy chassis, but we need more.

The current crop of buggies just doesn't really do it for me - something out of a sci-fi comic isn't really what I'm after.  I like realistic details, I like to race something that looks like it actually races in American Short-Course or off-road endurance races.  Think lexan-shelled trucks with spaceframe chassis, chopped arches, solid rollbars visible through the bed.  Think of a modern variant of the Chevy S10.

Think narrow buggy shells with detailed roll cages, exhaust pipes, rear-mounted engines and a choice of 2 or 4 wheel drive designs.  Think of a modern variant of the Fox.

I totally agree with Hibernaculum, thanks for saving me some typing buddy!

Me personaly would like to see some more detailed bodies WITH cockpit drivers (like Hibernaculum mentioned). For example, the Dark Impact loses realism with those dark windows. Even the BigWig looks real with it's driver.

Also some less welknown brands like the Alfa GT, SEAT Leon FR or the Saab cars could be used to model.

One of the most realistic and technical RC-cars is the Toyata Celica 4WD (58064). Why not develop something similair, somewhat more technical challaging. Also, a buggy based on the Avante design would be welcome.

i would like to see a ford MKII escort street car with a mix of both hard and lexan shells like the BMW schnitzer. it must be 2WD, independant front, live axle rear (i can hear a CC-01 on-road coming [:D]) and the shell should be a street form but includes all the rally stuff like a different interior and rally arches, more air intakes, a rally wing and more.

RE-RELEASE THE SCORCHER!!!!!!

and finally, a re make of the mountaineer shell for the lift please [:D] in hard and lexan for shelf and running ]:)]

just some thoughts

cheers

RE-RELEASE THE SCORCHER!!!

And not a limited one either so that, much like now, only the wealthy can afford one. Just re-release it and enjoy the worlds fastest selling RC car :)

How about some good muscle cars and hot rods...'69 Charger, '70 Cuda, '66 GTO, '70 Mustang, '71 Challenger, '29 Ford Model A... I can go all day, there are some great cars out there.  Release them on a RWD chassis, keep them realistic and not distorted.  If Tamiya did it, they would do an awesome job.  You can have vintage style wheels or run low profile tires with deep wheel lips for the pro-touring (or "G-machine") look.  Simple interior with rollcages would be awesome.

I think a Ghia or squareback would be cool on a M-chassis....or any aircooled VW for that matter.

The forum software allows you to post an image directly, but it will

only appear at the bottom of your post after whatever you write. When

you

create or reply to a message there are 4 tabs at the top of the page.

Choose the options tab and click on the add/update button. Click the Browse button to find the picture you want to upload. Make sure to scroll the dialog box to the right to find the SAVE button. There are limits though, the image must be no bigger than

200kb and the file type must be a jpeg with the file type on the end of the name as .jpg -

.jpeg or no file type will not load.

I've mentioned these too much already but definately the RS500 & the majority of the Ford Racing greats.

Again I've harped on about this before but I never understood why Tamiya did 1/24th models of the Sierra RS500 but no RC version yet the Escort came in 4 guises - The Ford Motorsport(Tigerstripe version), Michelin Pilot, Repsol and Ford Liveried WRC's, yet the Sierra had arguably more success in varying disciplines the world over. The Escort Cosworth was a Rally Car through and through yet the Sierra dominated the tracks worldwide before being outlawed as well as rallying. Furthermore the Michelin Pilot was a British Championship car yet was sold worldwide.

There was loads of cool liveries too - The Eggenberger Texaco cars and a wealth of BTCC with Labbats, Kaliber, Listerine, to name a few and what of Aussie legend D1ck Johnson's Shell car (that's no swearing that's his name but the forum control won't let me put the 'i' in so I put a 1 in!!). Rally versions again were driven by some of the greatest drivers of all time - 'King' Carlos Sainz in Marlboro livery, Jimmy McCrae in Ford Motorsport stripes, Didier Auriol in Panache livery (Tour de Corse winner), Q8 etc., etc., - Why only in 1/24th and not RC Mr. Tamiya....ooooo Cossie's, Cossie's give me more Cossie's.

And yes I know that Kyosho did a Sierra albeit slightly out of proportioned (looked like someone sat on the mould and squashed it down) but Tamiya's degree of detailing would have been a corker.

Nowadays wise a Seat Leon WTCC please.

One final thing is the Cockpit sets and driver figures - Whats going on. They're harder to get hold of now and are becoming slowly more expensive for what is relatively a cheap vac formed part. The option of leaving them in or out was a good thing so at least people had a choice. Come on lets see more interior detail again!!

P.S. If your reading this Stateside and wonder why you don't recognise the Sierra from your fine Ford name then it's a bit like the Merkur XR4Ti only better!!! The Merkur XR4Ti was the same as our Sierra XR4i only being you had 2.3 forced induction and Europe had 2.8 Cologne V6's, and you guys say you like more cubic inches!! Outside wise they cut the rear double quarter windows into one big one and changed bodykit spoilers etc...Oh and they put the Cosworth lump inder the bonnet (or hood:)).

Some very good entries folks![H]

Please be brief in your entry and stay on topic because this thread will be watched by others.

Can't promise anything though.

dj destiny, i agree totally, the 'Group B' Rally cars (Group B was race and rally) of the 80's are a really great subject! maybe on a chassis with greater off road ability than the 'current' TT-01 thats used for the rally cars. The manufactures had to make a minimum of 200 cars for homologation, so those that were not raced were made into road cars! group B cars that i remember were:

Audi Sport Quattro S1 ( its swb) , Peugeot 205 T16 , Lancia Delta S4 (supercharged and turbocharged) , Ford RS200 , Porsche 959 , Ferrari 288 GTO , Metro 6R4 , to name afew
