i'd like to see a ff01 release. actual m03 has cheaper plastics, it hasn't the same efficient differential and so on.

The FD RX-7! actually, tamiya did display 1 at the last hobby show, I just can't wait to get 1. I want to see how well it fared up to the S15 body.

Other than that, perhaps the new CRX, or any generation CRX for that matter, in full 1/10 flavor, no mini for this 1 (they did the civic as a full size 1/10 after all). And perhaps a 4 door R32, 33, and 34, and something along the line of Aristo.

Some classic racers like MGB GT Sebring, Austin Healey 3000 and a proper Rover the SD1. Loving the Dakar and Group 'B' era cars being a big fan of Rally. What about a more quirky one like the Citroen BX 4TC - anyone remember that?

Talking Dakar/desert racers, looks like Tamiya should look towards TTR's new 'Desert Racer'...

Don't like the carbon fibre much for realism, but the concept deserves merit.

If Tamiya would make a Dakar racer with a proper off-road chassis, sealed gear and radiobox AND with a very detailed body (prefered hard-body: that Touareg isn't quite detailed and beautifull...) they may have winners here.

That same off-road chassis can be used for Landrover shells for example, everybody happy!

There are so many Dakar vehicles to choose from (trucks, buggies, trucks, prototypes, trucks, production cars, trucks and trucks), I would be very surprised if Tamiya doesn't make any more modern Dakar racer(s).

Not to mention a detailed Dakar truck would sell like hot cakes too!

Late reply, but....

Dee, I completely agree with your post here.

As a huge fan of the Dakar, who got 3 classic 1980s Paris Dakar rally videos for Christmas (and who is watching the 1985 edition right now), the variety of unbelievably cool off-road cars in those races is something Tamiya should definitely revisit. Although Tamiya have been exceptionally generous with their Dakar offerings thus far, so I can hardly complain. I can only hope for more.

And of course, the same goes for Group B rally.

Only problem is we need Tamiya to make another kit the way they used to make kits. These classic rally cars deserve the "Tamiya indulgence" treatment - an all out effort to produce a realistic, scale R/C rally car kit (e.g. 959 or Scorcher). Not just half-measures that please in some aspects (Touareg driveshaft), but disappoint in others (Touareg body/detail).

What amazing days they were, back in the 1980s. They were wild and free in a way that we may never see again.

Group B with it's unlimited specifications, resulting in the most advanced and powerful rally cars of all time. And the Paris Dakar with it's equally wild sense of adventure, and enormous variety - from Group B cars, to sand rail buggies. It was the kind of race where you could see a Rough Rider actually racing against a Porsche 959. I mean, how awesome is that??

In the 1985 edition of the Paris Dakar, the race was a hard fought battle between Porsche 959s, Audi Quattros, Opel Mantas, Citroen Visas, Mitsubishi Pajeros, Toyota Landcruiser FJ60s, Land Rovers, Range Rovers, Mercedes G-Wagons and various buggies. Then there were the Marreau brothers in their Renault station wagon (basically running as high as 5th against much more costly entrants and 'works' teams). Or the Citroen 2CV entrants. There were even Jaguars, modified for off-road. 6 wheeled Mercedes G-Wagons. And buggies that looked every bit the inspiration for Tamiya's buggies, as much as the Baja 1000 buggies were.

In 1985 the lead changed many, many times, and amazingly, the Pajeros and Landcruiser FJ60s were the ultimate winners.

cheers,

H.

Hib - Another great post! I agree that if Tamiya want to make something truely remarkable, then they need to go back to their old ways ( 3 speed! ).. I'd love to see a MK1 Escort RS2K, Front mounted motor, rear driven, light pods for the front.. i could go on, but i won't.

I totally agree.

When Tamiya would bring out only extremely detailed hard bodies again they can do the same trick again like the way they started their business.

People would pay, no question about that imho.

It would make Tamiya, again, the one that stands out to the other (lexan based) companies.

Besides, lexan is quite forgiving (crashes etc.) so their business in body spare parts (and paint) would also expand...

Not that I would crash a perfectly detailed and painted body but still...[:P]

No matter what model.

In fact, I like every model in hard plastic that has been mentioned here.

I'm surprised not having seen requests for a re-released Monster Beetle [:S]

This truck is amongst Tamiya's emblematic models, such as the Blackfoot (still available as Extreme), the Lunch Box or the Grasshoper (both re-released).

For sure, the MB is the one I'd like Tamiya bring in 2007

you guys think tamiya would ever release a Hilux anniversary edition if they forced us to pay 1200 up front and then they would make it for those specific amounts and then call it quits?  hey cant we dream LOL....

for that much you could almost get an original nib if they could do it for around £500 up front then we would be talking :)

A Hummer would rock as a fast Tamiya offroader

I would also like to see the falcon re-released just for nostalgic reasons and the monster beetle as that was such a fun RC!

Best of all I would like to see a Taymia scale RWD Cobra! I'd buy one the second it was released.
