ok said i wanted a 4ch radio for christmas, today the wife shows me the one she has got - will it work?

its a futaba 4ex-fm 4ch, digital proportional r/c system.... for airplane models!

can you use the airplane system for land based r/c?

If is says airplane use only
(assuming your in the UK) it’s probably on 35 MHz  which wouldn’t stop it working but wouldn’t be
allowed as 35Mhz in the UK is meant for Air vehicles only (could cause some serious
accidents for model Aircraft users)

You would need 27 MHz or 40 MHz
for land or water based vehicles (UK)

Frequency’s are different depending
what part of the world your in though

thats what i initially thought as we are uk.

however on the modelsport uk site its says it is suitable for tanks, trucks, hi-lift etc.

on the specs inside it says it transmits on 29, 35,36,40,41 or 72mhz band

but my receiver inside is 40mhz - so thats legal

also all the instructions only mention setting it up for an aeroplane!

I have the same radio I one of my
trucks 40 MHz

As long as the receiver is on
40MHz you can assume the RC is fine and bought from modelsport you hopefully
won’t have any issues

As for the instruction there based
on Aircraft as most the features of this system aren’t much use on ground stuff
but I find its good for my boats and looks a badword of a lot better than basic
units (more bling)
