question about the TEU-101BK ESC

will the TEU-101BK ESC work with a YOKOMO 21 TURN SINGLE PRO STOCK 2 motor?

if it's the standard tamiya box one i think it is optimized for Sport Tuned motor

or the silver standard one too....

the ST i think is a 26 turns...

the tamiya esc is rated at 23 turns and does'nt like anything above, will cut out alot.

Whether it will work or not depends on your gearing. It should handle the 21 turn Yokomo motor just fine if you are conservatively geared. Make sure the ESC has plenty of airflow to it, and go for it. The worst thing that can happen is the ESC does a thermal shutdown, and then you know to ease up on the gear ratio. Either way you can't do the ESC any harm.

My mate runs his Tamiya Super Stock RZ (23T but perform significantly better than a lot of motors) on a Lunchbox off the standard tamiya ESC with no probs. I have run a Reedy Spec 19T in a truck on one without problems although I have a few tamiya ESCs spare so blowing one isn't an issue, although I haven't. I tried my Peak Racing 14x3 with it in a car and again it ran though I didn't try it for long, it was just a test really.

A 21T long term may be pushing it a bit especially when you can pick up a 20T rated ESC so cheaply anyway.

I ran my Egress on the 101BK with a 15x2 motor, it ran for about 3 mins and then the overheat shut off cut in.

Yeah, I wouldn't run it with anything hotter than a Tamiya sport tuned motor.

Thanks a lot for posting all of your findings.  Every little bit helps everyone. I just got one of these esc's in my Swift and I had the same question about the motor turn limit.

The Swift is just crying out for a 'little' ESC, that way you can tuck it in the chassis out of the way and keep the weight nice and low down.

Yup Techie I already thought of that. Not sure if I want to keep it Tamiya or not.  I have my rx and esc mounted in my Mini like that. Kind of tight but looks good and stuff is safer hidden away like that.
