Nikko SIG?

I was considering a Nikko special interest group, under the name Nikko TEC.

It would focus mainly on Nikko's TEC division vehicles, like the Super Sprint, the Hiluxes, and the ProClass cars, but any Nikko would be valid.

What do you think?

I think Nikko would make a good Sig or group

I’m kind of biased as I used to be
part of an approved Nikko
repair dealer in the mid 90’s and as such saw very little work as they just don’t
break.

I still have a full Dandy Dash (Runner)
complete with Nikko radio and box, I even have the holy grail Nitro Nikko
Mercedes (With built in starter and reverse
gear Not fast by Nitro terms but cool car starts from controller) but this needs a little work as it’s a mess of sticky glow fuel at the
moment

So I would be thumbs up for Nikko

I think it is a great idea with a SIG for this! I am pretty sure The Tamiya club forum is the world largest online database on vintage Nikko, so this will mean we can work even closer togheter in building Nikko online museum or amusement park if you want. 

I have tried to stress the topic to add Nikko to the showroom list of manufactorers, since it has bean so manny changes latly and Chris said that it was included in the next update? I vote for not to big seperate groups for brands like Nikko, Tyco and Radio Shack, but there should maybe be debated if it should be like this, or a big toycar/vintage toycar SIG? I hope the writer of this tread, Hibercalunum, could reply to this also, because he has a lot of knowlege and exprience on all this types of old toy cars. He is also planing on setting up a website for old toy cars. If he does we should try to be a little different, and my personal opinion is that we should narrow the catogeries down to there manufacturors as Rhen is also suggesting.

I would defenitly become a member if you start it Rhen, feel free to use anny Nikko pic's from my showroom in your banner if you like.

Here is the banner I made, I felt like keeping it simple, based on the actual Nikko TEC logo. It is in bitmap format and I am open to others' ideas for it. Feel free to edit it and re-post.

Might be a good idea to get at least 5 confirmed entrants first, there is a rule saying if a SIG has less after a week it can be deleted.

The Nitro Mercedes? Neat, I would really like to see that. Fazineroso has the Nitro Renault Clio, sounds like the same chassis. I'd like one, but it's not at the top of my priority list right now.

I collect miscellaneous Nikkos, I have several Dandy Dashes in various stages of restoration and a nearly complete Super Sprint plus several others.

I like it, verry clean and easy to read. And identical with the Nikko logo. I am not sure if this was the company logo trough the first years of the company? I rember best the yellow one, but I think this is verry good for a start! It all depends on if the club gets a verry Vintage feel to it.

I just started a QD SIG, and then start mailing every QD owner. Inviting them to my group. You could offcourse do the mailing before you set up the SIG. I am not sure what is best? But you should not only use the forum, there are some of the Nikko owners who don't use it, like Wikedvette. You nead 5 members or 5 listings? I wonder if 5 members is possible? From what I remeber there was not that manny different holders. Going searching...

There should be no problem you gott over ten different Nikko ovners.

Just had a look at the Nikko Cleo
and it looks like same chassis and setup (At least someone else bought one )

I had a look up the loft last
night at my Mercedes and it’s not bad seems to be caked in fuel as the tank has
split and because it was a runner I doubt the bearings will be much cop, I ‘m
going to dig out the box as I remember there should be a parts list in it and
hopefully Nikko might have some sort of spares

 

If not I’m sure another tank can
be found and the bearing shouldn’t be an issue ( I’ll try and get some pic’s in
the next week or so )

The Merc sounds like a good resto project. Nikko used a lot of 1150s (5x11) bearings in their high end cars so I'd bet yours are common. Give Nikko a ring, it usually takes a few minutes to get the people on the other end to wake up (they are used to the recent cars) and describe your car. The model number probably won't come up on their computers but they'll work with you. Might be a good idea to save your tank in case you can't get another original one and you need one for the shelf.

I will start looking around later today and sending out emails, and start the SIG at the same time. I think I'll go with the Nikko TEC logo but I'm sure we can update it later to include the original logo. My focus was on the cars the TEC division made, including the Super Sprint/Dandy Dash, the ProClass, the rally Porsche 959s, all the Hiluxes, even the Thor-type MTs. Of course the mini 4WDs would be welcome too, and we could include other Nikkos.

The SIG is up and running. I've sent out emails but I may have missed some people, so anyone wants to join just send me an application. It's SIG #52.

I did not know that. It should mean that this logo have stayed with them all there years so it would be perfect for you S.I.G. I am aplaying now.
