anyone seen the caravan bodys on ebay? cant decide wether its funny [:o)]an i should build one, or if its terminaly stupid[V]. i have concidered building a car transporter type trailer in the past[:I] but grew out of it. dont think the sort of driving my kingcab gets would suit a trailer. also still a bit bitter over my '3 points+£60' incident for 83 mph in a 'prohibited vehicle' in lane 3 of the m5, i only had the trailer on so i could take my rc trucks on hol in cornwall, not impressed. anyway, plod stress asside, to tow or not to tow?

Hey KingEddie, are you talking about camper shell conversions for the pickup truck?

I tow a few times each year using my L200 4life and it is fine, I don't mind the towing part but what annoys me is the idiots in motorway service/tesco etc car parks that don't understand you are a big vehicle. The number of times I've parked across several spaces while towing a large trailer to return to find some idiot parked 6" from my front bumper - ARRGHHH!!! They don't understand that you can't park in the normal way and don't seem to notice the 20' trailer on the back of the truck - makes you worry how they manage to drive at all.......

I'd don't tow caravans because I prefer camping, a tent is far cheaper and easier to store away afterwards.

I also prefer to load as much into the truck as possible to avoid towing simply for ease really although a camper shell is a good idea. The are popular in the states and Australia I believe. Some of them have legs that allow you to simply jack them up and drive away leaving the shell in one place, quite a cool idea. Sadly with the arrival of yet another child in our household a small camper shell is no good to me, I need to sleep 4 people.

One of our local clubs runs a caravan heat occasionally. Top funny, and it certainly involves a lot of different skill to the normal touring car racing. I say go for it, it's a bit of a laugh and very cheap to try out [:D]
