Thought I'd add my 2p worth. I both buy and sell on Ebay regularly, and never really had any bad problems, folks who take ages over posting is the usual thing that goes wrong.

My tip to buyers is always clearly read and make sure you understand the prices involved, postage, any insurance which you must have etc, and add it to the final price to see if the total is what you really want to pay.

Only buy from sellers with good feedback and who have been trading for a while. I 'estimate' postage based on experience, and unless you know the exact weight of the item before you post it, it difficult for the average person to quote the 'exact' postage amount. i have both over and undercharged before, although only a few pence either way though.

I see the point about only having to re-imburse you the purchase cost, not the over inflated postage, and thats dishonest and wrong.

Thats very poor. Shipping over here in the UK is horrendous, that we know, but it would never be that much so I feel for you there. On the other side of the coin international sellers know how expensive it is in general over here and pad out their shipping costs. I know this, and have mentioned it before on another thread but one seller had listings for the same item on various International EBay sites with the same destinations but different shipping charges. i.e UK delivery was listed on UK site as £32 but UK delivery listed on US site £22 - Same product, same supplier, same destination but different sites? On all his models.

For my 2p worth I always check others feedback, check the postage is listed and if not ask a question and get it in writing. Sad but as the arrogant seller said in response to one of you guys that someone else will buy it, and they will. It really gripes me the padding and my personal view is to charge as near as possible to the actual delivery, the packing materials and time spent delivering is all part and parcel of competing for a sale and are freely available. My view is if it's such a pain to go to the post office then don't go - You want the money right? Then get on with it. Finally, as it's always difficult to predict exactly how much things weigh - I'm sure theres a counterbalance on them Post Office scales sometimes - If I'm over by at least £1 then I paypal the difference back to the buyer simple as that and I'm pround of my 100% feedback honesty! Thats my view guys and girls - Your always safe to deal with the Sideways!!![:D]

Well if it's the store begining with "B" thn there is a thread about hm already on the forum lol. After reading the view on him there is no-way i'm buying off of him!!!

"B"??

No, this one starts with "D" via the bay, or "R" through their own site..

The whole "do unto others as you would like others to do unto you" theory, as a respectfull show of integrity has been practically thrown out the window by this new generation of cyber capitalists operating from behind a keyboard where their throats are physically safe from thre stranglehold of a peeved off customer...[^o)] I suppose store owner assaults have decreased due to this. [:P]

My radio gear, (JR XS3 Synthesized, etc. etc.) came from a hobby

store in Newcastle, which is a few hours drive from Sydney, so not

exactly local.

I purchased it through his site, best price going round!! Better

than any store in the bay and delivered it to me for only AU$10!!!

Fancy your local hobby shop owner behaving the way these bay stores do, pulling customer's pants down and thinking he'd get away with it???... He would need colonic surgery to remove my shoe from his ***... Hobby shop folk are absolutely fantastic!! Why can't these clowns on the bay behave in the same manner??

 So..... What's the conclusion people??

Well I just went against my better judgement of not ever purchasing from someone on the bay with less than 98.5% pos feedback and bought from xxseiyalegend as they were the only ones to do Tamtech radio gear at a reasonable price.

the next day after paying, I see "This user is no longer registered with E-bay". They have nearly 3000 feedback, so gutted. What are the chances I'll ever see those bits through..... [:'(]

Bummer ! Open up a dispute if the goods don't arrive as I did when the same happened to me - although not with RC parts - and after there set period of waiting for communication from the seller had lapsed I got my money back in full. Don't know if they threaten legal stuff with the seller, They stump up the refund then chase the seller, get the seller to refund or what but I got it back and that's all that matters.

Hope you get some resolve buddy[:)]

Yes, it is truely horrendous.

I've got a TA03F-S for sale here, including radio gear, batteries & charger. It all squashes into the Tamiya box but the darn thing is then so heavy at several kg that the PO, Parcel Farce, DHL and FedEx etc all quote online for over £60 to airmail abroad compared to a £tenner within the UK! That's more that the car is worth... I've had a couple of overseas enquiries but the £GBP is so strong its uneconomic to ship it. I don't blame the poor buyer!

It seems to me that USA, Japanese and Malaysian post offices are far better value for money and much more efficient. Even with over-inflated shipping quotes on Ebay, they still a much better option than British sellers due to our outdated expensive system here. [:@]

Hi all,

Interesting thread. I suppose my view on the matter is this. As a UK buyer and seller I will only buy if the postage is clearly listed. If there is any element of fee avoidance going on with overinflated postage prices then I report the listing. This is, in my view the only way to stop the sellers.

Sadly, the parts usually do sell anyway but if everyone reported the auctions things would change.

On the issue of posting from the UK to places like the USA via Ebay then I have personally stopped selling overseas. Paypal's protection policy requires a signed for, trackable service and that now makes the postage costs too much. I don't like to do that but I have no choice. Outside of Ebay, via this club etc I do post overseas.

Thats why I never sell radio gear, batteries and chargers with the cars, they just increase heavily the shipping cost while not really adding much value as electronics are very cheap nowadays and better bought locally. Also batteries "wear out" after time and RC frequency and charger voltage might be incompatible in some countries. Also without electronics a touring car parcel can weight under 2000gr which makes it possible to send via cheaper and faster "lettermail".
