Btw, whats the timetable for the day, i mean, when does booking in begin/close, when does racing start/finish.

Posted

Timetable is as follows:

The hall will be opened at 7.30am, for track laying and setting up of the trackside shop by Selections Racing. Anyone daft enough to get there that early will be dragged into helping [6]

Free practice will start as soon as everything is laid out, at around 8.45. Booking in from 9.00am, and we'd like to have the 1st heat running before 10.00am. With online booking in, we should be able to sort the heats by 9.30am.

The plan is for 4 qualifiers and 2 finals per class, but it really does depend on how quickly we get through a round. This is a "fun" event, so if we can sneak in an extra couple of rounds, qualifiers or another leg of finals, we will. It will end when we've done [:D] but we've only paid for the facility until 4.00pm (although both parties are flexible)

Will you be posting up directions / Map on here or your clubs website or are you going to email them to us?

Is Personal transponders being used of is it limited to handouts? I would like to know so I can fix a transponder mount in the car as I don't like mounting them in the shell (fussy!).

Thanks

If you visit www.lbmcc.org and go to contact us, there is a Google map link to the school, which is also on the homepage of www.lormcc.co.uk The postcode is LU7 3PF. I can give directions if required. The best advice I can offer is plan your journey so you approach Leighton Buzzard via the A5, either south from Milton Keynes, or north from Dunstable. At a small village named Hockcliffe, turn at the traffic lights, right if you're coming from the north, or left if you're approaching from the south, and approach LB on this road. At the 1st set of traffic lights - ignore pedestrian crossings - turn left. After about 400m, and just after a small parade of shops on your right, the school is on the left. Once through the entrance, you can park either to the left - behind the school, or to the right - infront of the school.

While in Hockcliffe, just to the south, and just outside the village, you may be interested in a McDonalds, and a Little Chef [:D]

I'm really pleased everyone had a good time.

We did look at either an extra round, or running 5 minute races, and decided on the extra round. Perhaps we'll book the venue for a while longer next time, and go with 5 minute races.

And, trust me, following the positive vibes, we will have another GP.

Would you change anything else?

Running one class is a topic for debate. If the entry levels remained similar to Sundays race, or better still improved by a few, then we'd have to go with Se7en and Miglia again. My feelings as a spectator - although I'll admit, only for the heat I was marshalling for - were the Se7ens apeared more similarly matched. That said, I've set the ball rolling for GP2, initially with no changes.

We've (LBMCC) already discussed some form of regular Sunday series, that will incorporate Mini's, but in Se7en spec only.

Thanks for the enjoyable day racing.

Deep down I was glad it was normal circuit racing without ramps and bridges, I didn't want to scratch my new M03R-L [;)]

I agree with Alan, I would of preferred 5 minutes racing and a round / final less

May I just add my thanks to those already here. I had a great days racing, at a friendly and well run meeting. I hope to attend the next one.

I like the idea of five minute heats, but four minutes didn't seem too short. Having one class wouldn't be a great problem as far as I can see.

Again thanks too all, great meeting.

Dates have been requested in September for round 2  format to be decided, but posibly a single class - Mini Se7en - with slightly looser regs. We're also looking at hosting a similar event at our neighbours in Aylesbury.

Your thoughts, as ever, are welcome.

It's great that there will be a round two, but I just hope that it won't clash with the end of the Tamiya Eurocup season.........

Round 8 2nd September Broxtowe Eastwood, Notts

UK Finals 15th/16th September Snetterton Attleborough, Norfolk

Half of the 'Swindon Mini Boys' will be unable to race then... :)

Tim any new on date for next Mini GP ????

Hi Alan, err, no! Bottom line is the school and the caretaker have parted company, leaving us with no access until a replacement caretaker is found. This may prove hard as the scholl is under threat of closure.

We are investigating alternative one off venues, but I expect we'll have to wait until the school term begins so we can find out what/when/where/who :(
