A so a whole new breed of rock crawler is born. (first thing that poped into my head) I love the look of it, but Im not sure about the steering set up.

I wonder if this is a lead up to hpi releasing a rock crawler??? Its certainly a good platform for one and maybe it would encorage tamiya to do the same.

I'm not sure about HPI doing anything but I bet some of those KOREAN aftermarket manufacturers have some big plans in mind for that drivetrain.  (Hopefully soon !)

Well Gmade allready make their own axles and chassis. But with HPI being an American company I would be surprised if thye didn't cash in on it. Seen as 1.1 rock crawling is a largely american based form of motor sport.

I just think it would be nice to see a new take on a rock crawler from a larger company like HPI. I get the fealing that Tamiya have missed the boat with thier trucks, unless they deside to bring out a more crawler aimed TXT2 but I dout it some how. To be onest Im surprised that none of the big rc company twig onto rock crawling yet as it seems to be one of the fastest growing devisions of the the rc hobby.

Just my 2p

Well spoken [Y], & I have to agree that it would be nice to see something ready to go right from the box ! (Especially if it was from the big Tamiya).

Yeah I find it incredibly surprising Tamiya haven't cashed in on the rock crawling craze. Actually to be honest I'd love to see them release a TXT with gears that way you could have crawling and high speed fun out of the box. I was seriously hoping they were going to announce something at Nuremberg but that obviously isn't going to happen.

I was fortunate enough to have a look at one of these in my LHS last week. Making it into a "Rock Crawler" would not be to hard, but I think that the axles will be all that is used from the car.

The final drive ratio is strange, in that its to fast for a crawler, but slow when compared to the Wild Willy 2. I also had a hard time getting it to "pop a wheelie" without first going in reverse, then going foward. I suspect that some of this poor performance was due to the battery being charged earlier that day.

A 4wd version would be a welcomed addition, although it would not be hard to convert the RTR to 4WD.

I think someone on RCCawler has already made a rock crawler useing the wheelyking axles. It had a pritty cool steering set up with the servo mounted on the top links.

I'll see if I can find a like to it.

I can see now that there's going to be a lot of people jumping from the TLT's to the Kings for crawling axles. Just my 2 cents. I saw one of these ran and I'm not impressed. I'll stick with my stars.
