Well, I did the crime yesterday....I took my recently acquired procat on the beach and through all the wet sand.  Had great fun, especially as it was rear wheel drive only, but knew I was in for a nightmare when I got it home.  It was so bad that the old silverstar esc I have installed flooded.  That took about 8 hours drying out before it worked again!!!!!

Anyway, I have now stripped the car back to components and wonder what to do next.  I have piles of plastic bits, stainless steel bits, rusting screws!!!!, sand filled bearings etc etc sitting on my table and would like some hints on how to clean and treat the parts. I know soapy water is going to clean the plastic parts, and really I guess most of the screws, ball joints, pins etc, but should I drop oil/wd40 etc etc on the metal parts when putting back together or just leave them be???  I also believe that the bearings should be dipped in car oil and then dried and some 3 in 1 put on them.  I intend to strip the diffs down, but know I need silicon grease for them!

I want to end up with a car that not only looks clean, but is rid of the harms of salt and sand!

Also, does anyone have a spare Diff bearing housing - Closed (T083) lying about.  I have a second rear box that I want to build and that is the only part missing from the main construction.  Thanks

In fact, has anyone got ANY Procat bits lying around unused.[:P]  Having now got the R/C bug i feel that Procats are the way forward for me.  Reckon if enough people send me one component I'll have a spare car before summer![:D]

Thanks

I myself have just got back in to rc and have stared collecting schumachers.

might have the bits you need as I have also aquired quite a lot of spares.

send me a list of part numbers and I will see what I can find.

Thanks for the offer Keith.  That's great.  I will let you know.  It sounds like you have the start of a brilliant collection.  Is that it or has the bug now got you?????  [:D]

I currently have a working King Blackfoot, a now working Procat (although there are some peices missing such as rear wing mounts), parts for atleast another half of a procat, and then a Kyosho Ultima Pro and Outrage.  Both of the Kyoshos require work doing to them and a little money spent, so am thinking of flogging these on to fund the Procat obsession.  My problem is that I like running the cars, and so need cars that parts are available for.  At the moment that certainly heads me towards the Cats and away from the Kyoshos.

I see what you are saying about parts availibility for the old kyoshos.

procats are excellent I do enjoy starting with a right tatty car and making it clean and good looking,I have just got to hone my airbrushing skills before I even attempt painting any of my new shells.they are too precious,I know it is sad but keeps me out of the pub.

give it a couple of weeks and I will be getting a showroom together so please keep your eye out.

cheers for your response Andy
