Hi everybody, this is my first post. Anybody ever seen one of these? [

] It's a Latrax Brilliant Firebird Formula from the early 80s - My first RC car. It had some pretty cool features such as fully proportional steering and a floating rear axle.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forums!

All the LaTrax cars are fairly rare nowadays. There were only four models I think. Personally I don't hold them in high regard; they are rather odd cars and not super high quality. I have the LaTrax buggy (Rough Rider clone).

That Firebird does look like fun though, and detailed, but is the rear aspect right? It looks a little off.

I have to agree that they weren't of the best quality. The one in the video is a car I picked up at a swap meet last summer. The original one quit working soon after I got it (sometime in the early 80s) due to electronic gremlins. But when it did work, it had just enough quality features to get me totally hooked on RC cars. Like the steering wheel control for example. Yeah the body proportions aren't quite right either- definitely not a Tamiya! But the video was also recorded in widescreen and smushed into youtube format.

Enjoyed looking through your showroom BTW.
