When properly set up they can make a huge difference on any car, improving handling greatly. They can also lessen the stress on shock mount location during landings/impacts.

Oil shocks will make a huge difference to the handling as well as allowing further customisation and set up development of the car depending upon the desired result.

£20 is that for all 4 or just for 2? I am not familar with prices for the grasshopper not having had one, however should the be £20 for a full set then I would say that is reasonable for most brands, what brand are you looking at?

If they are £20 a pair making £40 overall then I would say that is a little steep unless u ar talking the equivland of TRF style shocks.

As I said above I dont have a grasshopper so the prices are more guesswork on what I have seen tho Im sure another member with more specialist experiance will be able to put me right if needed.

thanks for the replies.

yes its £20 a pair which i thought was steep, they are tamiya CVA shocks (which are plastic and yellow rather than the bright turqoise ones i`ve seen on some peoples grasshoppers in the showroom) but i think these are the ones advised in the upgrade in the manual.

so is that too much to pay then really?

i`ve read some people saying the front shocks on the GH are a nightmare to replace due to being so short.

Oil shocks are a great upgrade and really do make a difference, you'll go from bouncy, ,bouncy grasshopper to nicely damped. Dunno about prices but the Tamiya brand ones will be more expensive than a lot of other brand aftermarket equivalents.

Tamiya CVA oil filled shocks really are good and worth the bit extra [:)]

I used to own a Grasshopper and oil filled shocks transformed it, same with my Tamtech-Gear Frog, sketchy to awesome with just a change of the shocks [:)]

For the GH2, you have two original Tamiya Shock options.

The Original Yellow CVA Damper Sets, you'll need 1x 50332 for the front and 1x 50305 for the rear.

Or the Later Black CVA 2 Damper Sets, you'll need 1x 50519 for the Front and 50520 for the rear.

The Black ones when available sell for around £12-15 a set and the Yellow ones for £20-25 a set.

The yellow ones are fairly rare now as most 50332 sets have been used on the Front of Thunder Shots (Even more so with the Re-Release) and the 50305 set is the Dual Shock upgrade for the Front of the Boomerang
