I just brought a Orion batt 1500mah but compared to my Tamiya 1400mah it is lack of punch.Do u guys know why?Izzt becoz its the first charge or first tym using it?

do you know the exact model of the battery? (All the words it says on the pack)

How much was it? Chances are it was a cheap one and you get what you pay for normally. I never liked the 1500 or 1600 cell packs, i never found a good one. I thought to myself they were probably the 1700 reject cells from the factory so 1600 were a bit dodgy and the 1500 were picked up out of the bin. [:D] you never know...

You will need to cycle the pack a few times to realize it's full potential. But mr_lister999 is right, I never found a good 1500 pack, and the 1400 SCR packs were and still are excellent packs. I still have several I use for practice, etc.

Its Team Orion ROCKET PACK 1500MAH its abit cheaper than my Tamiya 1400mah sanyo cells.I thought Orion is branded thats y i tried.

thats why its not much good. I know a few people that have bought these cheap 1500 rocket packs and none of them were good. They all had low speed, low run time and got very hot. They all chucked them away and bought a better pack. Has anybody else tried these cells?

I tried the Oion batt the 2nd tym.I notice better performances coz i charged it longer n I notice the power comes in not at the start of the accer but at the 2nd or 3rd second. Is there such thing?

Orion 1500's are extremely poor cells, nowhere near as good as any Tamiya battery. Orion make those cheap packs from no-name cells (the cheapest available on the wholesale market) , and they are very poor quality for modelcar racing.

Of course, the top-end cells that they use are superb, but you pay a premium at retail for them, if I were you I would stick to the Tamiya batteries for general use, as they are much better value for money, and the current silver 1400sp's are made using Sanyo cells, which are the best cells available, no matter what level you are at, especially punch-wise, as you have discovered yourself.

Remember - if you cheap-out on batteries, you cheap out on your fun !

Tamiya really are that much better??? Im wondering because my recent R/C is my first one, and i don't know its top potential or anything. I have a TL-01 and a Duratrax Shark 1500 mAh powering it. Am i getting the full potential out of my Duratrax shark?

I know just what u mean my mates gotta tamiya 1400sp pack and it makes the orion 1500's look your poor ( the 1's i got) I think its just a case of you get what u pay for and @ £11 the orion's not gonna be that hot. Now i wish i had just got 1 good pack not 2 crappy 1's.[xx(]

about a year ago or so, you could get the tamiya packs 2 for £20, now its 2 for £34...(from modelsport.co.uk) oh how the importer profits...

they are no longer good value, not for that capacity.. good cells tho ofcourse.

Unless the wrapping is transparent, I always like to rip the shrinkwrap off any new pack to see what's inside. Commercial brands like Orion, Trinity etc all sell "play" packs, but even these will differ inside depending on the batch.

Any pack with Sanyo or Panasonic cells inside is generally not bad; anything in no-name white with "MEXICO" stamped on it is instantly relegated to WildWilly duty. [:)]

Again this peeking... Anything you buy and you don't open?[:D]

No, "Mexico" cells should be used exclusively for Baja Buggies and mostly the Sand Scorcher, would match the decal [:D]

Sorry amigo, I wouldn't even bother rebuilding 'mexico' cells into hump packs... pretty sure even our 20yo Saft 1200s would be better than them even after 1000s of cycles. [:I]

Nah, they're barely good enough to run the WW2... which gets lent around to all and sundry to play in the park.

The funny thing is I kol up TeamOrion they told me that my batt may be fake coz they dun produce Orion Power packs esp purple in colour. Can anyone advise here?Funny thing is I brought my batt from a Orion distributer in Philippines.

That is a distinct possibility... not uncommon to find "copy" items in asian countries.

Last week I was looking at "TAMIYA" branded 2600mAh nicads. Gee, I didn't know AA batteries had progressed so far??! [:)]
