Has anyone seen the insane prices for the Bullheads on EBAY. I finally gave up (untill summer time comes around) after seeing a "USED" Bullhead go for close to $350. Sheesh!! Is this kind of price common for this truck?!!

Yeah - they are getting expensive.  I bagged a NIB Sealed one in September for $220 US & the last NIB I saw was listed at over $400 US !! Crazy times.  I would wait - they seem to fluctuate.

I love the truck, in fact its my fovorite Tamiya truck. I just can't justify selling my soul to get one.[:P] But it is true, sometimes you can't believe how expensive they are and sometimes you can't believe how inexpensive they are(Although I've never seen a cheap Bullhead)!!! I setting my sights my on a NIB Bullhead now...

its just getting older every day......thats why.

I agree.

A few years ago a NIB bullhead was the choice for people building "mod clods". They were for sale cheaper than the clod was.

Another reason why they are rare is due to so many being ripped apart for the gearboxes.

I doubt tamiya would re release the bullhead either. Allthough its a classic truck, its look is very dated. Plus, its often said that tamiya only re released the clod buster because of the demand for its gearboxes - With the space now filled and mod clod builders happy, there is no need to put the bullhead back on the shelves.

As sad as it is, your right "mymonsterbeetleisbroken" the Bullhead was outsold by the clodbuster too so it wasn't produced as much as the Clod .[:'(] I will still get one though...eventually.

Guys - There's no accounting for impecable taste in old Tamiya trucks ehh...? [;)] Expensive but worth it becuase they look so different to the common ol' pickup style big boys. I adore mine. It was my first monster in the early 90's, and I drove it to death, and my current one replaced it.

My Bull always been black, and since I had a spare black chassis from my SuperClod project, I have treated it to a colour swap from the normal red. I have been a complete tart and tried out some matching flame shock shocks. They fit very well and have damped down that infernal squeeking you get from the standard dampers.

Its this season's smart new fashion sourced from Ebay... Darrrrrrhling. [H]

We've had a few threads on this forum in the past about the most ugly tamiyas - and the bullhead has always seemed to come up as an ugly truck.

But i've got to admit, it looks sweet with the black chassis and black body. This is the first time i've ever liked one!!! [:P

Thus proving the age old 'hilarious' comment about women cleaning things better than blokes! [6] Whahahahaha.

Going back to the original comment about Bullheads on Ebay, I notice that although prices are holding (but these trucks and their spares were never cheap), and replacement spare parts and chrome bits are readily available.

I always wanted the proper Tamiya oil filled dampers for mine, but in the 1990s the really long CVAs were £25/pair so hopping up the suspension would have cost £100. That was a lot of money for me then. Thank goodness for the larger selection of 4" dampers nowadays.

At one time I was going to buy a Super Clod to convert into a Bullhead but after adding up the total costs to do all this I just figured I might as well save up for the Original Bullhead. Besides the Bullhead Box is awsome looking as well.[:)]

Honestly didn't realise the Bullhead had been discontinued - I bought one off the Hong Kong Cowboy a couple of years ago for a very good price. Still NIB at the moment, just love that boxart.

Yep, the Bullhead was discontinued as of Feburary 2004. While I really have no intention of ever selling it, the Bullhead will most likely climb in price because of it's unique body, colors and surplus amount of chrome plated parts . Add all this to what almost seemed like a sales flop compared to the Clodbuster and you have one rare truck. The Bullhead is the only one to feature a completely different body set on this chassis too so it will most likely be worth more than the Clodbuster. The Clodbuster  which only seems to have the difference of having a chevy emblem on the front grill instead of the 4X4X4 on the new Super clod's front grill will probably not be nearly worth as much because the body's are pratically identical.

PS. KEEP YOUR BULLHEAD NIB!!!!

Congratulations on finding a truck you'd wanted for so long!

I agree, in the long term the bullhead will no doubt be rarer than the clod.

Its odd that the so called "rare" chevy badged clods dont seem to command a higher price.

The chevy badge didn't stay on the clod for long. it was quickly removed due to licencing issues and the clod was produced for around 15 years without the badge. Then tamiya changed the whole grill design to feature the hideous 4x4x4 thing.

A NIB chevy clod is also easily faked (i'm making a fake one at the moment, i only need a manual, decal sheet and box lid to complete it [:P]) as the so called rare chevy badge parts can still be found for under $40 new in the packet.

So all in all the bullhead will be the rarer truck.

But as they say - never enjoy RC for the money or investment. Tamiya could re release the bullhead and crash the prices of the originals overnight. At least then you could buy a fleet of them [:D

Thanks "mymonsterbeetleisbroken" it was tough getting one but I was hellbent on having my own Bullhead.[:D] I really bought the Bullhead to admire its unique look and brilliant colors. I would love it if Tamiya re-released the Bullhead, I would buy five at least! Like I said though the Bullhead was never that popular in the first place and because of that it has little chance of being re-released. Besides I use my Super clodbuster to go bashing.[:)]
