hi all

i've got a Ta03, made from new spare parts from an ex racer.

i now use it on concrete just for fun with a warm motor.

i don't know how it translates, but tha car has got a free release on the front.

when i back off power front wheels are totally free.

that's good on a track but when i try to brake it handles like an handbrake!

i'd prefer to come back to normal setting.

how must i change? both are manta ray differentials.. i only need to get a new one for the front?

thank you.

another question

i need to know in a 27T orion/yokomo motor is faster than a tamiya sport tuned.

sorry if the answer is obvious but i haven't tried and need a motor for this chassis.

thank you

that's my chassis, most parts are new. hope it handles well when ready

Hi there, I'm no TA03 expert but it sounds as if you have a one-way diff/pully/gear in the front (or perhaps even centre).  You should be able to get a standard replacement.

Hi,

sounds to me your 03R got a torque splitter (tamiya's lingo for 1 way bearing) installed in the front gearbox (on the layshaft with the pulley).

Well, if you don't want it, I'll swap you with a fixed one, been looking for one to complete my 03 with. Otherwise I think the part number is:

53274 Aluminium counter shaft

3555117 counter shaft (steel)

Any open end-bell 27 turn stocker will be faster and more torquey than a sport tuned.

I just ran mine the other day, slippery track with plenty of short to medium narrow infield straights. Handles quite well, bout the only thing I swiped was a 1 way diff in place of the front ball diff, no stabilizer, and red/blue F/R springs. And swiped the front knuckles for M03 alloy ones, with complete 42mm long universal. Well, it just seems to be a better idea to slide through than to push heavily to the outside when braking.

Any idea where I can find the urethane bumper kit for it? Been thinking about using zip-ties to secure the bumpers out of another make.

Nice chassis- TRF TA03R, I raced mine years ago..  You have a Torque splitter/one-way set up (for race use).  If you have the manual I THINK (not sure) you can replace it with standard bearings to stop the roll, or you may have to replace the shaft holding the one-way- Hope I helped??

thank you all...

this chassis will be very lighly used so maybe i'll keep like it is.

it was a racer, why not keep it just that way?

i never raced, but don't they need to brake? always flat out?

Iren

RCmart in its "parts" section has many parts for ta03r/f

next order i place i'll but some spares before they get discontinued!

I do brake, but never slam on it, more like part throttling.

Besides, for the sharpest bend we usually just coast it. The nose changes direction quickly, and the tail sweep around to follow the front, waiting to be floored. At least that's the deal with stock motors.

And thanks for the tip, but I guess I'll try cut my own, so I can mount a wider urethane bumper.. The minimalist TRF bumper doesn't help the front corners from tucking in, and has cost me both front spoilers on the NSX body.

so you're lucky...

the original NSX of my kit is now history.

mine  did 5 races back in 2000 and then was forgotten in a shop after assistance.

i've bought it a few months ago...than now is completely rebuilt with many spare new parts and need a new motor just to try, i think it won't be a runner cause  i like it a lot. i use a normal TT as runner, maybe i'll upgrade to TB

Lucky?

my near TRFspec 03R started life as a standard bathtubbed 03F (impreza). I just happened to know an old main distributor locally with plenty of un-liquidated stocks, dating from the F102 to F103GT era.

So on went the 03R carbon plates, full bearings, 03F pro plastic parts, some new spares, 03 ball diffs, reinforced front tower, and etc turning it to an 03F TRF (if it ever existed). And since I started with the 03R carbon plates I can experiment with the 03R's layout.

Then managed to source a Cen GX1/TR4 front 1 way diff, which fits into the gear diff case perfectly.

The 03R-S I've recently acquired became a spare-bin.

Currently I've been turning NIB kits into spare-bins, just to drive the spare parts cost low, and get a fresh body as a bonus.
