I can't stop, just when I think I've got all I need another Ebay deal pops up or another re re is released. I need help at this rate I'm going to have to sell the [&]. This is an addiction, I wonder if there are any support groups[8-)]

You probably won't like it but you can always do what I did... don't buy another car/truck untill one is sold. I know, Its like selling part of your soul but with a fat wallet it won't seem as bad. Besides you never know what new and awsome product Tamiya will come out with next so some extra cash is always a good thing.[;)]

hmm, cup noodles and bike to work. LOL...

Hey, works for me.

I have the same problem. The only solution seems to be to realize at some point that I only need a certain number of cars. The cars I don't have a use for will need to be either auctioned off or put in storage until their value rises. From that point I only buy cars I know I want, and try to fill positions such as speed basher, crawler, puller, shelf queens, racer, etc. I try to get all my cars running so that I don't have to swap any electronics or anything to run them.

I was much the same when I started back into the hobby last

summer.  I bought a whole load of new / used cars and parts with a

whole load of projects in mind, 8 months later I have several cars that

no longer get run but sit on the shelf looking pretty, I have shells I

bought for one project being cut up to go on another, I have projects I

started sitting on the bench with a massive list of "parts required"

that I can't afford to buy.  this is the danger - each project

comes into my hands very cheap, but doesn't get running without a lot

of money spent on it.  While I'm saving up that money, another

cheap project comes along that I just can't say no to!!

And even

tho I'm short of electronics and can't run many cars at once, I still

find myself regularly scouring ebay and TC ads for an interesting cheap

runner truck or buggy that is no better than any of the models I own,

yet for some reason I still have a desire to have in my collection...

I

think much of this is solved by a) having a good selection of runners

rather than projects, so we don't get bored with having a shelf full of

unfinished junk and only one car to play with; and :) taking on

projects which we know we have the funds and know-how to finish [:D]

I will join that support group ! So far this month I have ordered/purchased the following:

  • Thundertech Desert Racer
  • Tamiya Scania 1/14th Full Option Transport
  • InetRC Custom TXT "Bat Chassis"
  • F350 High Lift MFU
  • Tamiya Top Force Re-Release

It is starting to hurt.  Just when I think I have what I need - Tamiya develops a "must have" or the aftermarket manufacturers come out with soemthing that is just too tasty to pass up.  We definitely need an international "addiction counsellor" for Tamiya Addicts [;)] !

I know that problem, almost everytime I buy a car for parts. I can't part with the car bacause I actually like it...

heh, about the only reason I'm buying a new kit would be for spares.. hey, it's cheaper than buying the spares and you got a brand new body to top it off [:P]

My problem exactly!  I've picked up two buggies lately for a fraction of their original cost.  Now they are just projects with giant lists of "need" and "want" parts. Since the buggies I've gotten are have long been discontinued, finding parts is a pain.  BUT, sometimes you can find parts at towerhobbies that are still relatively cheap.

My grasshopper and lunchbox are resurrected and I just got myself a tb02 and the money pit is opening wider and wider.  Is it a bad sign if I keep my expenses a secret from my girlfriend and have packages shipped to a friends house so no one can see how much i'm buying.     The problem is that TAMIYA and everyother company design things this way so they can cash in on our addictions.  Like cigarette companies.  Once we are hooked we'll pay anything...My first born for a trf415.  Any takers.

I love this thread - I look at size of my collection and all the spares and think - I MUST NOT BUY ANOTHER.

I'm curing this at the moment, in that if I buy a car and decide it's either not for me, or not enjoyable to run, I sell it on quite quickly. This means I only keep the cream that I want, but still get to try stuff out to get it out of my system.

At the end of the day, you might lose £20 here and there, but relative to a lot of other hobbies, this one is still cheap as chips really!

I am alsofalling into this trap, having only been back into Tamiya RC for 6 months, have 7 vehicles, and still want more- getting short of space (even in the attic)- and the temptation to shell out for hop-ups on ebay is terrible!- I feel for you brother!
