How do we remove the previous paint??? Paint thinner??? I'm not sure. I'm afraid that paint thinner will weaken the plastic. What do I do?

i used EZ-OFF and it worked perfect. just spray it down and put it in a plastic garbage bag and tie it up for 2-3 days. took about 3 days to do both cab and bed on my bruiser. just let it sit and be patient.

Lexan and poly bodies are different remember. Don't use brake fluid on lexan.

Try Floquil, this stuff works without worry on both ABS and Lexan. It removes all types of paint and stickers and will not harm the plastic. I also works alot quicker and easier than brake fluid or oven cleaner.

It is a little more expensive, but it can be reused. Strain the stuff back into a jar or can with a coffee filter and it can be used over and over.

I can strip at least four complete bodies with one can. Tower Hobbies sells it, and you can also check your LHS.

Look at my celica in my showroom, you've got the result before and after BF. I personnally use Dot3 break fluid, be carefull the other types may destroy the lexan.

Once the body is crystal clear I apply some polytrol to remove major scratches and restore the clarity of the lexan. All you've got to do then is apply a good polish.

The most common method for lexan is to use oven cleaner.

Don't ever use oven cleaner on a lexan body. It will craze and crack into 1000's of tiny pieces. Don't use brake fluid on a lexan body either. It will turn the lexan an opaque white. The only acceptable method for stripping lexan I have found is Nitro fuel. Works like a champ and doesn't damage the body.

What about fixing scratches embedded into my lexan body? Also, would normal gasoline take out the paint?

It's true with non dot3 fluids such as the one for hydraulic circuits or automatic gearboxes, and even some synthetice "Dot3 compatible" fluids.

All in all just use standard dot3 BF.

As for the result, just look at my celica, it is still in one piece and was not tarnished (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img186_24072002183325_2.jpg).
