Is it normal for a standard Hotshot to have a really poor turning circle?

Thought it might have had something to do with the ammount of slack in the front hub joints but I have got rid of all the play now and it is still as bad as it was when it had all the play. [:^)]

I've got Hotshot & Boomerang and have looked at all the models in this 4x4 series. They all have the same problem because of the setup.

Parma did a kit #12855 Front Adjustable Upper Suspension Arms which replaces the original with adapted arms which allows you to play with the camber & caster of the wheels. This gives a slightly better turning circle but it will never be as good as the 2WD cars.

Interestingly, how did you manage to eliminate all the play in the front arms. I am thinking about drilling the uprights by about 1mm top and bottom to push the ball joint further into the socket and so pull the 2 arms together. How did you set it up?

To eliminate the play, i made some new plastic spacers to fit more snuggly around the ball joint. Was quite pleased with the results.

Just a shame they're blue not red

Interesting, but as you are actually pushing the 2 A Arms further apart to remove the play in the front, aren't you making the arms rub on the inside of the wheel ? This was my problem.

Not really, i just made the hole in the spacer smaller to compensate for the wear on the ball, so the arms are pretty much the same as normal.

Hi guys, I have both a Boomerang and a Super Sabre which are runners... and both couldn't turn to save their lives. I think it's also due to the bellcrank system that hugely limits the steering throw of the front wheels, probably more than a suspension geometry design issue... proof is, even at low (ie read msc speed #1...) speeds neither can turn. I guess I will try to drill one further hole in the spindles, closer to the balljoints... not sure if this will work as it will prob require trimming the arms to get more throw.
