Tower Hobbies has wheels for the B2 buggy that fit, I have used them on my graphite and original gold tub RC10 buggies. Associated still sells many parts for the older buggies you may even be able to buy direct.

There are two different sized bearings for the front axles depending on which setup you have, Tower lists both and which cars they fit, one has a flange and one dosen't.

If you've got an original RC10 from 1984/85, then the front axles were smaller in diameter than the standard Tamiya axles and needed different bearings.  There's a few sellers on eBay offering front axles that accept the Tamiya bearings (axles usually made by CRP or Thorp but you can find repros)-- then you can use any 2wd buggy wheel in the front.  I like to run the Brat fronts on mine-- they grip great in dirt and still have tread after 20 years!

The rear axle had a taper to it behind the roll pin that is larger than most.  I took the new Traxxas Rustler front hexes (grey plastic) and drilled the back slightly larger to fit.  Now I can run any hex-style wheel on it-- I have HPI wheels with Dirt Hawg buggy tires mounted now and it runs great.

The problem I was having was finding affordable tires for the original 3 piece wheels for my RC10, so I improvised.  Now I can run cheaper modern tires that wear so much better than the oldies!

I agree Jim, they do look mighty fine and sound very cheap, just after some cheap bashing wheels at the moment though, but will definatley consider these when my project moves to the next stage!!

rc-martin- there are a lot of shelf queen guys (and gals) here on TC.  I have nothing that comes close to getting that label-- mine are either runners or beaters.  [;)]

The RC10talk forum suggested all new axles, cvds, etc.  That's a bit much for a runner imho.  I don't know about the B2 rims, but in one of the other thread posts (by ra272) he has a good pic of the back of the B2 rims and they look like they have the same X pattern for the pin but may not have the taper you need for the original axles.

Do you have a LHS?  I would go there and see what affordable wheel/tires are offered.  Maybe you could make some minor mods and get something to work.

Good luck!

Unfortunatley my local model shop is only geared up for touring cars, so trying to find compatable parts in the UK for a 20 year old US car is proving difficult. I have some HPI hex adapters but not sure which buggies have hex drive wheels and which are pin driven.

I just want some cheap 2.2" wheels, I have searched tower hobbies but am just confused now [8-)]

rc-martin-- You're almost there!!!  Can you get the HPI hex adapters on your RC10?  Do they fit straight away or maybe just drill the back out a bit?  That is what I did with Traxxas hex adapters-- just simple plastic hexes and I drilled a slightly larger hole only about 1/2 way into the adapter.  (If you go all the way thru the adapter will wobble.)  These are the ones: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXNMR8&P=7

I got these wheels from Tower: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXCEA0&P=7

and these for tires: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXDU13&P=M

Grip is incredible and they hardly wear at all.  I've run several packs mostly on pavement with a Super Modified 11 turn with these on the rear and they still look new.  Off-road I have a hard time keeping the front end planted!!

I also use that wheel/tire combo on my Hotshot with these adapters http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXGE28&P=7 . I did try drilling one (harder as it was aluminum) and using it on the RC10, but the Tamiya ones are slightly narrower than the Traxxas ones above and the offset didn't work as well.  The grey Traxxas ones seem to push the wheel out just right!

Good luck!  --Jeff

Yes the adapter fits straight over the standard axle, the only thing is, the adapter has a shoulder on the outside face of the hex but i suppose i could cut this off. The adapters came with some hpi wheels for a Nitro MT, which had a bigger hole in the center.

Cheers, i think i can start ordering now! [:D]

I have used the standard B2 buggy front and rear rims (2.2/2.15) on both my original 6 gear gold tub RC10 and also on my RC10 Graphite. I swap these rims on and off between the original rims with no problems. The original front rims take a small flanged bearing (3/16" x 5/16")and the newer style take a standard bearing (SAE size for both not metric). The rear rims fit the axle fine and the roll pin fits right in the slot. I have the standard small CV axles in both cars and my other one has the standard kit axles (dogbones). No extra adapters are needed. I can send pictures of the car with them on if you need to see.
